1 AnswerStandards & Testing8 years agoHow to get some dentistry work experience?
For half term in February. I'm going to ask a dentist in another town, so I don't think I want to go in and ask the nurses.
Shall I email or send a letter?
Would it be rude to phone up and ask for the practise manager's name and/or email address?
What shall I say, so I don't sound rude?
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)8 years agoHELP COULD I DIE? I may have swallowed a bit of metal from a STAEDTLER® triplus® fineline?
I may have swallowed a bit of metal from a STAEDTLER® triplus® fineliner Triangular fineliner, are they TOXIC?
I was sharpening the tip of my pen and little pieces of metal were being produced and flying around, they must have been sharp because they were sharpened and they were the size of a grain of sand. 5 minutes later I felt something at the back of my throat,
Could they cut my throat?
Are they toxic, as in mercury or something else ??

4 AnswersOther - General Health Care8 years agoDoes this guy like me?
Honest opinions please :)
He's in my year and we have 3 lessons together a week. Our form rooms are next to each other and I see him a lot. Whenever I see him he looks at me, like he shows interest in me (?). Like the other day I was laughing at this guys joke, and then I realised he was walking past and looking at the guy I was laughing at, as to say what did he say to make her laugh.
He looks at me and acts like he cares about what I'm doing, like when I'm talking, listening to or laughing with a friend in the corridor, or walking past him, he looks at me.
I remember waking past him once and he was looking at the ground, but when I walked past he lifted his head and looked at me.
Today, again his best friend was telling a joke and I was grinning and looking at his friend, and he was grinning and looking at me! He was sitting next to his friend, so I saw him. Whenever I look at him and catch him looking at me I look away because I get shy :) To be honest I always look at him when I see him, he's kinda cute in a different way :)
What I mean is other guys don't do this, and I don't look at other guys whenever I see them. I also get really self conscious around him.
He has a girlfriend, but he's not the sort to it take seriously, he's only going out with her because of her looks.
My friend said I look interesting and exotic because I'm foreign (so big dark eyes and dark hair), do you think he looks at me because of my exotic looks?
Why does he keep looking at me?
This has been going for about a year as our form rooms have been next door for a year, so I see him frequently. Like sometimes when he's in the middle of talking or laughing with his friend, he bothers to look at me in the middle of what he's doing.

Standards & Testing8 years agoWhat to do about Maths GCSE and A Level, advice please 10 points?:)?
I did my first maths exam last year and got 102 ums points which was an A. I retook and got 114 ums points, which was an A*.
I got my maths results for my second exam today, and I got 102 ums point AGAIN. I'm really disappointed as I thought I did really well and revised well for it.
Should I retake to get an A*?
I'm gonna try really hard for an A* as my grade overall, but I can't retake the third exam I'm going to do in June, so I need to really well in the two I've done.
But if it says on my CV that i retook 2/3 exams to get the grade i get (even though they were originally As) will this affect my chances of being a dentist? I'm aiming for an A*, but I'm in the lower set for maths, but I do Kumon.
Will retaking 2/3 exams affect my performance at A Level? So does it mean that I'm bad at maths and won't do well at A Level, and will have to retake those exams ASWELL?
Also does it matter if I get an A at GCSE instead of an A*, will
I still be able to get a B in A Level maths without having to re-sit any modules?
Thank you :))

1 AnswerOther - Health8 years agoIs there glass stuck in my throat, what is it?
I feel like there's something stuck on the left side of my throat, I can feel it with or without swallowing.
That whole upper left area in my mouth seems to feel odd, maybe because I keep poking at it all the time. It feels like I'm about to swallow it, but I don't, it sort of sits on the back my tongue or upper area of mouth at the back or my tonsil, the feeling changes.
Yesterday before I went to bed I broke some glass, do you think it went into my mouth? I broke a cup on the floor. Before and after I went to be bed I felt it, and now I can still feel it. It sometimes moves from the left to the middle of the throat, then moves back to left, because I mostly feel it in my left.
Surely it's not glass? I hope it's not glass.
I went to see a throat doctor a month ago to see if I had swallowed glass, and he said no, do you think I just get this because its psychological, but I can feel it, it's uncomfortable!!
Also, how long would it take for a piece of glass to cut your throat after you swallowed it?

Other - General Health Care8 years agoLana del rey's face?
When I first saw what she looked like, I realised one side of her face was sort of lower than the other, sort of wonky? Has she had a stroke, is it natural, or because of the Botox? My right eye and eyebrow is lower than than the left, I don't know why.
I think she's really pretty but why is her face like that?

4 AnswersCelebrities8 years agoWill going to a grammar school help me in the future? When applying to university, and applying for a job?
I go to a grammar school and some people sound really impressed when I tell them, like its a really good thing. I guess it is a good thing, because supposedly we get a better education, but everyone sits the same exams anyway.
Don't get me wrong, it's a privilege to go to a grammar school and I'm so thankful for it, but I was wondering if it will make unis more likely to accept the students? Like 2 similar CVs, but one goes to a grammar school?
Do we actually get better results, are jobs like doctors and lawyers mostly achieved by grammar and private school students because they go to a particular school, therefore more intelligent?
Do we get better results, do we do more GCSEs?
What are the advantages and disadvantages?

2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)8 years agoThis is not a racist question...why do Indians and Pakistanis become doctors, dentist and pharmacists?
I'm genuinely interested in why they all have jobs in the medical professions. My brother said that 50% of doctors in the uk are Indian? I went to this medical workshop day and there were lots of south-eastern Asians there.
Why is that so many of them are doctors. Is because they love science, a cultural thing? Or is it something like a nutritional factor, like the foods they eat, I want to be a dentist so if you know please help :)
