  • AMC: Greenlee should be knocked up?

Has anyone else considered that Greg Madden may have lied to Greenlee about her fertility condition? How great would it be if she got knocked up by Aidan or Josh? Then of course, there would be some catastrophe when she went into labor and the only one who could save her would be Kendall, of course.

  • Singapore Math Manipulatives?

I'm preparing to order the second set of Early Bird Kindergarten math workbooks from Singapore. After looking through Singapore's forum, I found that several different manipulatives are recommended. However, money is an issue, and I don't want to waste money for things that are not really needed.

I am considering buying a set of 1 cm multi-link cubes, a clock w/ geared hands, and a bucket balance. Has anyone else used Singapore math, and if so which manipulatives did you find most useful? I am hesitant about the hundred chart, counters, and weights.

  • If you had to choose just one method of homeschooling...?

and you had to strictly follow that method only which one would you choose and why? Distance learning program? Classical approach? Charlotte Mason? Montessori? Unschooling? Literature-based curriculum? Unit studies? Traditional text books?

  • Social skills used in real life compared to those learned in schools?

Anti-homeschooling people often claim that kids have to go to school to learn social skills in order to get by later in the workplace. I started thinking about how in the workplace you can not routinely harass and criticize someone just because you don't like the way they look or they have an annoying personal habit, but this behavior is often tolerated in schools as normal.

Can anyone else think of some other examples of how the social skills "taught" in schools (either from faculty or peer-to-peer) do not apply to real life work situations?
