  • System Restore doesn't work...why?

The hard drive on my Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop crashed a few months ago. The Technicians at Dell, walked me through the process of reinstalling Windows XP. The problem I have now is anytime I try to do a System Restore to an earlier date...I get a message saying System Restore failed. I know I'm doing it right because I've done it several times(before reinstalling Windows XP). I have System Restore enabled, so that's not the problem. I've also tried using different "bold" dates listed...nothing works!

  • How do I reset the inbox counter on my Yahoo Toolbar?

I am running Windows XP, and ever since Tuesday(1-13-09), it's stuck showing that I have 6 emails when I know there's none. In the past, all I had to do was use the refresh button and it would reset it back to zero. This doesn't work any more. I've tried signing in and out of Yahoo Mail, removing and installing the toolbar, still no luck. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • How can I access the Control Panel if it's been hidden?

I recently purchaced a used computer running Windows XP. When I tried to change settings like user accounts or back ground, I've noticed that the Control Panel option isn't listed in the Start Menu. Where did it go, did the previous owner restrict the access to the Control Panel? If so, how do I get it back?

  • I was wondering why seedless watermelons still have seeds in them?

I was talked into buying one of those "seedless" watermelons and was surprised to find seeds in it. There wasn't any of the large black seeds but plenty of the little white ones. Why would anyone label this a seedless watermelon? Oh, and just another question about this subject...is it safe to swallow these white seeds? I've heard people say its harmful to your stomach.

  • What else could be causing the Check Engine light to come on? My car has 126,000 miles on it.?

I have a 1997 Plymouth Breeze with the 2.0 four cylinder engine. The "light" came on over the weekend and I took the car straight to Auto Zone for a scan of the OBD2 system. The only code that registered was P1494, I called the chysler dealership and they said it was a leak in the evap system. Most likely cause was a loose or missing gas cap. I checked for this, and even went to the expense of buying a new one. After the new cap was installed, I had the code erased. I reset my trip meter and drove about 90 miles and the light came back on. I've had a mechanic check the lines and hoses running from the fuel tank to the charcoal canister and then to the engine. All were tight and in good shape. I was also told by the dealership that the leak detection pump might be bad. This is a small vacume pump that keeps a constant vacume to the evap system. My Haynes manual shows this pump, but my mechanic says there isn't one on my car. I'm now being told the problem is my O2 sensors??????

  • Why am I getting a message saying "windows Internet explorer (american)" when I acess certain websites?

This just started when I visited friendster website. Is it a virus or spyware? I've ran norton virus scan, and my protection is up to date..because I run "live update" everytime I log on.
