Why do people continue to come up with 'causes' for cancer?
After a while of seeing numerous inaccuracies with the so called causes for cancer, I have begun to wonder why people continue to make absurd assumptions about the causes of cancer. My physics teacher mentioned this in a joke by saying, "Everything causes cancer." Obviously, this is false, but many people continue to make these assumptions, and his thoughts seem to be accurate based on the wide range of 'causes'
In a related note, recent research seems to have proven that antioxidants do not prevent cancer as they were thought to have.
Why do people continue to make strange assumptions that tend to be more harmful than they help?
