  • Is a dump truck driver earning equivalent to less than $1,000 US dollars for 50 hours a week too little in HK?

I am a dump truck driver for dumping the obsoleted buiding materials in construction sites. My daily routine are as follows:

    1) Take the bus to where the dump truck is parking.

    2) Drive to the construction site.

    3) Report to my supervisor and get assignments from him.

    4) I operate the dump truck to upload the dirts and obsoleted construction materials and drive about 20 miles to the dump site.

    5) I unload the stuffs and drop into the dump site.

On top of filling up the diesel fuel tank, I need to pay the additional fuel service fee to the Hong Kong government. After all the paid costs, I only take home $6,000 HK dollars last month. I worked about 50 hours each week and get my pay every four and one half of week. My cousin, a Canadian truck driver makes more than $3,000

Canadian dollars each month (40 work hour per week) or approximately five times as what i am making in Hong Kong. He gets $32 Can/hr as a driver. He need to pay tax, pension, unemployment and medical insurance
