  • Why should there be a military draft?

We're meeting our expectations, and I'd rather not fight with someone who doesn't want to be there. I'd rather have people volunteer freely, not be plucked off the street. Being in the military doesn't automatically mean that you'll "love" your country, and it doesn't mean that you'll become disciplined. Quite frankly, if I was against a war due to my religious/personal views, the government has no right to dictate my free will.

  • Why do Republicans say they are for small government...?

...and then use social conservatism to regulate the private lives of law-abiding citizens? Like the Dems, they are for the PATRIOT act and even the regulation of some online activities, such as gambling, which is the decision of the individual, not the government.

  • Why should the US demand that other nations give up nuclear pursuits?

Independent nations that are not associated with the international community at large should be able to develop whatever they want with their own resources. I find it hypocritical that the US, which has used nuclear weapons in the past with devastating results, expects to tell independent nations what to do with their resources.

  • How do they shoot sexual acts in movies?

In movie theaters, some films actually contain acts (such as the beginning of Juno, the sex scene in Watchmen, etc) where the actors appear to be extremely close with a decent portion of their clothes off. Since the sex is obviously not real, how do they get the actors so close together? Editing it in?

  • How do you reverse your profile sides on MySpace?

I want the content on the left of my profile (DP, basic info, etc) to move to the right. However, I'm unsure if I have too much specialized content. I don't want reversing the sides to make my profile a mess. Look at it and, if it will work, let me know the code:

  • Do you think the swine flu will kill us all?

I'm from Scotland, but I moved to America ten years ago to be with my sickly aunt. I think the swine flu will ultimately spread and kill millions, perhaps even myself. I'm thinking of my homeland and listening to "Loch Lomond" by my dear Corries. Goodbye, everyone.

  • If a Democrat and his children were shot...?

Hypothetically, if a Democrat and his children were shot, and their bodies were still alive on the side of a road...assuming that you're the only one who has seen them as you drive by in your car, would you rush them to the hospital?

  • Instead of torture, how about this tactic?

We capture the wife and young children of a terrorism suspect with vital information and torture them before him until he breaks. Worse than waterboarding, but we don't physically harm him.

  • Why does everyone assume that Muslims are all terrorists?

I've met Muslim classmates that were very civil, they told me that they do not support the incumbent administration of Iran. They told me that these figures poorly represent their religion and, because of their elevation on the international stage, wrongly became representatives for the religion. I have read all of their texts, and the "bad" ones are cherry-picked and taken out of context, just like the Bible.

  • Why are Stephenie Meyers and her books unfairly attacked?

Books are about having fun, and Twilight is fun in a cliche way. Yeah, it's not original, but it's very interesting and worth an evening. It seems fashionable to jump on the "hate Twilight" bandwagon.
