I am an Electrical Engineering major. I enjoy art, the sea, and writing, as well as sailing and reading.

  • Am I biting off more than I can chew?

    So, I am currently a Junior Marketing Major. My GPA is less than impressive by my standards (2.3) and I am trying to graduate next year.

    I started out as an engineering major and switched the second semester of my soph year. I have 16 credits over the standard courseload to graduate in 4 years therefore in order to do so I will have to take 6 classes both semesters next year and 2 over winter break.

    Currently I work 12 hrs a week in the student activities office, I am the treasurer of one organization and a representative on Student Gov Assoc. These non academic activities I love they are truly my passion and I am good at it, but I am concerned that they will inhibit my ability to graduate on time.

    Next year I have decided to leave the student organization that I am treasurer of and run for treasurer of SGA, a very time consuming position as I will handle funding to 54 student organizations.

    So the lineup for each semester next year will be

    -6 courses (must keep)

    -12 hrs work in Stu Activities (need this job for money)

    -Treasure of Senate (potentially a 5hr/week commitment, but could do without)

    Do you think I am going to burn myself out? advice?

    thanks!

  • Interval of convergence?

    Find the interval of convergence for the power series

    SUM(infinity, k=0) [2^(k-1)(x +2)^k] / k^2

    If you dont want to solve it all out for me (even though that would be great) just write out a discription of the steps and I'll try to decipher them.

    Thanks

  • Check My Math (Trig Integrals)?

    S = integral

    S tan^3(x) sec^2(x) dx

    = S tan(x) tan^2(x) sec^2(x) dx

    u = tan(x)

    du = sec^2(x) dx

    = S u u^2 du

    = S u^3 du

    = (u^4)/4 + C

    Correct?

  • How to do this without a processor?

    Blend flour, sugar, baking powder and lemon peel in processor. Add butter and cut in using on/off turns until mixture resembles coarse meal.

    *Could i do this by combining the flour sugar backing powder and lemon zest in a plastic bag and shaking it, then pouring it into a bowl and working in the butter the old fashion way with my hands?

  • How do i simplify this?

    I need to simplify this. Can you explain what you are doing

    ( (-1)^(k-1) (k)(k+1) ) / 2 + (-1)^(k) (k+1)^(2) = (-1)^(k) (k+1)(k+2) / 2

    the spaces mean the exponent ends..

    This is for an induction so they are supposed to be equal on both sides correct? (it is a proof for n = k+1)

  • How do i solve this problem???

    prove that:

    Psubn = 3 + 7 + 11 + ... + (4n - 1) = n(2n + 1)

    a. Prove for n = 1 and set up for n = k

    b. Prove for n = k + 1

    Can you show all your work and explain how you do it? I am pretty lost as far as what to do. Thank you. TEN POINTS, for the most detailed explanation of how to do this.

  • Help me with this question?

    so i tried answering this, got an answer but i want to make sure im correct.

    Brian hits a baseball towards a 15ft high fence that is 400 feet from home plate. The ball is hit when it is 2.5 feet from the ground and leaves the bat at an angle of 30 degrees above the horizontal, find the initial velocity needed for the ball to clear the fence.

    my teacher told us to use these equations:

    h(t)= (1/2)(g)(t^2)+(Vi)(t)+(Hi)

    g=gravity

    t=time

    Vi=initial velocity

    Hi=initial hieght

    and the equation

    d=rt

    distance eguals rate times time

    my answer was 81.3

    thank you in advance

  • Critique this Abstract Please?

    Experiment 18

    Determination of the Solubility Product

    Of an Ionic Compound

    ABSTRACT:

    This experiment and it’s calcualtions utilizes the concept that equilibrium of a slightly soluble ionic compound will exist when the ionic solid dissolves in aqueous solution to form a saturated solution, without forming a percipitate.

    It is possible to determine the Ksp of the Ionic compound using the equillibrium expression. Ksp = [Ca+2][OH-]. This is done with two procedures, The first procedure involves mixing descending concentrations of the cation with a fixed concentration of the anion, the second is the inverse of the first procedure, mixing the anion in descending concentrations with a fixed concentration of the cation. This is done in a micro plate. The first well that does not create a precipitate is losely considered a saturated solution of the ionic compound.

  • Chemist or Engineer?

    I have an issue,

    I want to become a Mechanical Engineer, i love everything about engineering and i am very interested in the renewable energies and i want to be a part of that in the future, One problem is that i am rather weak in math, however i plan on taking summer courses to help me get better, it isnt that i am retartded in math i actually like math it just takes me longer to understand certain concepts...

    Now the other hand, i also have a desire to teach Chemistry, i love Chemistry and i love teaching i see it as a way for me to get out my creative energy, the only problem is i love both these careers and i wish i could be both but i realize Engineers make more money than teachers and my motivation to become an engineer is that i do not want to struggle for money like my parents did, i am very lost can anyone give me advice?
