  • Find the quantum numbers of the three lowest states that have the same energy?

    A particle is constrained to the two-dimensional region defined by 0 ≤ x ≤ L and 0 ≤ y ≤ L and moves freely throughout that region.

I found the energies that correspond to the wave functions. The energies are: En1,n2 = h^2/8m(n1^2/L^2+n2^2/L^2). Apparently I found one energy level which is n1=1 and n2=7, but I can't seem to find the other two. If anyone can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

  • Physics Homework Question?

    A refrigerator is rated at 336 W.

    (a) What is the maximum amount of heat it can absorb from the food compartment in 1.00 min if the temperature in the compartment is 0.0°C and it releases heat into a room at 37°C?

    (b) If the COP of the refrigerator is 70% of that of a reversible refrigerator, how much heat can it absorb from the food compartment in 1.00 min?

If anyone can help me with this, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

  • Physics homework question?

A 0.4 kg block of iron, with a specific heat of 448 J/(kg*K), is initially at 500 degrees Celsius. The iron block is then dropped into 20 kg of water with a specific heat of 4186 J/(kg*K) and a temperature of 22 degrees Celsius. What is the final equilibrium temperature of the block and water?

  • C++ help with changing an integer into a new integer with simple mathematical operations?

I need help with changing a 9 digit integer into a new 9 digit integer through simple mathematical operations. For example, I need to change 123456789 into the new digit 456123789. Sometimes I need to change a 9 digit integer into an 8 digit integer. An example is 789062456 into 62789456. If anyone can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it. I can ONLY use simple mathemical operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and modulo). Thanks!

  • I feel like a burden to my best friend and his girlfriend's relationship?

I've been living with my best friend and his girlfriend for almost a year now. We all decided to move in together to save money by splitting the bills and whatnot. We all get along really well and we all have a good relationship with one another. They both work and his girlfriend also goes to college on top of working part time. I'm going to college as well but I don't work because my parents are paying for my education. For the past couple months, I've been feeling like a burden to their relationship. I feel like this because whenever they have time off and have the opportunity to spend time alone, they can't because I'm at home whenever I'm not at school. I feel like they would be happier if I wasn't there so they can spend time together without me intruding. So that's why I feel like I should move out, so they can have alone time. I remember one time, my best friend's girlfriend came home from school one day and asked him to take a ride with him. I felt like s**t because my presence was such in the way that they had to leave the comfort of their own home to spend time alone. I don't know what to do and I'm scared to tell them how I feel because I don't know how they will react. If anyone has been in this situation or has any advice, I'd greatly appreciate. Thank you.

  • Physics homework question? Help?

Assuming x = 0 at t = 0, write the correct algebraic expressions for x(t), vx(t), and ax(t) with appropriate numerical values inserted for all constants. (Use the following as necessary: t. The unit of t is in seconds. Do not include units in your expressions.)

I have no idea how to do this. So if someone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

  • Physics homework question related to distance? Help?

An automobile accelerates from rest at 1.8 m/s2 for 19.3 s. The speed is then held constant for 18.7 s, after which there is an acceleration of -2.6 m/s2 until the automobile stops. What is the total distance traveled?

I've been working on this problem for half an hour now and keep getting the wrong answer. So if anyone can help me figure this out, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

  • Physics homework question related to acceleration?

On June 14, 2005, Asafa Powell of Jamaica set a world's record for the 100-m dash with a time t = 9.77 s. Assuming he reached his maximum speed in 3 s, and then maintained that speed until the finish, estimate his acceleration during the first 3 s.

If anyone can help me with this problem, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

  • Physics homework question? Help?

In 1989, IBM scientists moved atoms with a scanning tunneling microscope (STM). One of the first STM images seen by the general public was of the letters IBM spelled with xenon atoms on a nickel surface. The letters IBM were 15 xenon atoms across. If the space between the centers of adjacent xenon atoms is 5 nm (5. 10-9 m), estimate how many times "IBM" could be written across a 44.1-inch page.

If anyone can help me figure this out, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

  • Physics homework question? Help?

Force has dimensions of mass times acceleration. Acceleration has dimensions of speed divided by time. Pressure is defined as force divided by area. What are the dimensions of pressure? Express in terms of the SI base units kilogram, meter, and second. (Use the following as necessary: kg, m, and s.)

If anyone can help me figure this out, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

  • I have feelings for my best friend's girlfriend? Help?

I'd like to start off saying that I am 20 years old and so is my best friend. His girlfriend is 21 years old. I've know my best friend since the 4th grade and I've known his girlfriend since they started dating 4 years ago. I didn't get close to her until about a year ago. I now live with the both of them and we've been living together for about 3 months now to save money on rent/bills since we're all in college.

Over the past week, I've started to develop feelings for my best friend's girlfriend. Whenever I see them hug, kiss, cuddle on the couch, etc., it hurts me inside to see them doing that because I wish I could do all those things with her. I can't eat, I can't focus on school, I can't sleep sometimes because I think about her all the time. If I'm at home while she's still in school, it hurts me that she's not home because her presence around me makes me feel better. This is going to sound pathetic, but sometimes I cry myself to sleep because it hurts me knowing that I can't be with her. I'm happy for the both of them, I really am, but I don't know what to do. I kind of want to talk to them about the situation, but I don't wanna make everything awkward between us and possibly even ruin our friendships. If anyone has any suggestions on what I should do in this situation, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

  • I think I'm jealous of my best friend and his girlfriend?

I'd like to start off saying that I'm 20 years old and so is my best friend. We've been best friends since the 4th grade so we are really close. My best friend's girlfriend is 21. They've been together for almost 4 years now. I've known her since they started dating but haven't been close to her until about a year ago. I've recently moved in with them to help save money by splitting rent and bills since we're all in college. Over the past few days, I've been feeling jealous of them, even bothered and maybe a little bit hurt, whenever I see them cuddling on the other side of the couch when we watch TV or a movie, or whenever they hug or kiss each other. I feel like I should be the one cuddling her and hugging her and stuff. I don't know if this is because I've developed feelings for her or I just like the idea of wishing I had a girlfriend. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? I don't want this to ruin anything between all of us. If anyone knows, I'd appreciate it
