  • What does this Rousseau quote mean?

I have an essay due tomorrow and i'm struggling to interpret this quote

"In order then that the social compact may not be an empty formula, it tacitly includes the undertaking, which alone can give force to the rest, that whoever refuses to obey the general will shall be compelled to do so by the whole body. This means nothing less than that he will be forced to be free; for this is the condition which, by giving each citizen to his country, secures him against all personal dependence. In this lies the key to the working of the political machine; this alone legitimises civil undertakings, which, without it, would be absurd, tyrannical, and liable to the most frightful abuses."

    Additional Details

Ok here's some context as it was reasonably requested. This is from the Social Contract Chapter 7 of book one. Rousseau was a figure of the enlightenment which was the era that inspired the people of France to rebel against the tyranny of their government through violent measures. The chapter is about the sovereign. Rousseau is of the belief that the general will of the people should dictate the actions of government.

  • What base did i get to?

Ok, i'm a 19 year old guy. I got my first kiss at a dance last night when i was pretty drunk. We basically made out for like 45 minutes while grinding. My hands eventually moved down to her southern isle, and i basically fingered her through clothes, once again, in the context of grinding at a dance. I'm think i'm somewhere between first and second base.

  • Do you think Scalabrine GOAT jokes actually hurt his reputation among NBA teams?

I'm thinking the perception of him as a joke made him less attractive to teams thus making it hard to get any interest in free agency and ending his career prematurely.

  • Penis Worries, not sure what girls will think?

    19 years old

Length is ok i guess 5.5 inches erect which ma be a bit shorter than average but not really a problem.

It's not very thick which worries me because i think girls value thickness over length. Perhaps worst of all it's bent up about 45 degrees when fully erect. Will this be a problem?

  • Girls, what is your "type"?

I know a lot of people don't real have a specific type and labeling someone as a type is a form of stereotyping, but we all do have a certain draw to people with specific characteristics so if you had to apply one word to guys that you like what is it?

  • How should a skinny guy work out differently than a naturally muscular guy, additional questions below?

I'm 5'11 130 pounds 19 years old. I started working out a couple months ago with a buddy. When i started i was 126. All we really do is bench press but when i go back to college i will expand to squats and core workouts. We started taking Whey protien powder mixed with water when we begin and together we've just made it through a 5 pound tub. My max bench went up over 20% in that time period.

My question is really where do i go from here to take things to the next level? Should i add a creatine supplement. I'd like to get up to 150 pounds by the end of next school year. How many times a day should i work out and should i do specific muscle group days or full body days? As a hard gainer my metabolism is freakish and i'm already stretching my limits as to how much i can eat. How can i avoid plateaus? Any help is appreciated

  • Are the Hawks and Magic in an alliance with the Lakers?

Here me out because it would be in all of their interests

    1. Joe Johnson trade: It helps Hawks because it unloads contracts, it helps Magic because Dwight can no longer force hand to NJ, it helps Lakers because Dwight Howard can't get to NJ

    2. Marvin Williams for Devin Harris trade: One may ponder why the Hawks would trade a player for another point guard when they have Teague and just acquired Jordan Farmer. Well the Gasol for Josh Smith negotiations apparently broke down because LA wanted another established player. Now the Hawks just got one that they don't need and the Lakers do.

    3. If the next trade happens it will begin to prove my theory. Smith and Harris for Gasol. Hawks would get rid of Smith who wants out. Lakers would get a good friend of Dwight Howards, a proven PG and younger.

    4. Bynum+ Blake for Howard: Magic would get the best offer in the NBA offer Howard with Bynum. Dwight can't get to Brooklyn because the Nets don't have anything to trade and no cap space to sign him in the next offseason. Lakers get the best Center in the league.

If all these things occur all three franchise benefit at the expense of Brooklyn nets. Overall Hawks get better off financially and get rid of player eager to leave

Magic: They get the best thing on the market in exchange for Dwight Howard. They don't let Dwight Howard control his fate

Lakers: They finally get the player they've long coveted and a good point guard and a friend to entice Dwight.

Nets: Ultimately lose out on Dwight and DWill. Forced to overpay Wallace and Johnson for nothing.

Danny Ferry, Mitch Kupchak and friction Magic GM if this isn't in motion already READ THIS AND TAKE NOTE

    Dear Brooklyn: Suck it

    Son

My son, I don’t know you but I will

Forever in your life through your struggles and your thrills

Mistakes will be made but I will never think ill, then or even still

I will guide you as you hone your skill and pave the way when the battle is uphill

I’ll raise you right, to be polite, to claim no entitlements or shallow birthrights. And I with every father in sight will unite to create a world for you in which you can delight. When you get older you’ll realize my flaws. My rules no longer laws and tyrannical injustice as my paws feel like claws. So I’ll pause for perspective and remember the cause. You’re growing up. Through every power struggle and friendly competition I’ll cherish your growth as a father on a mission to raise the best man I can with warm heart and no omission, who’s father made him feel loves most prideful definition. Our journey will be long but every second I’ll take joy. Once a kid now a man but you’ll always be my boy.

  • Younger girl problems?

First of all i'm a 19 year old guy. I've never had a girlfriend or kissed a girl. Last week my church ran a week long camp for kids 4-10 years old. Some of my friends and i volunteered to be leaders. Anyway, at this thing we are split into tribes and they learn about god and stuff. The kids got to go to these little booths where there were activities. Some people volunteered to work behind the booths.

Anyway the first day i noticed a pretty girl and her friend behind a booth. I could tell she was younger than me. I was guessing around 15 or 16 years old. I figured that's too young to date but i could still try to make eye contact and just admire from afar. This camp thing lasted 5 days and i never really talked to her. On the last day i realized she and her friend were looking at me as much as i looked at them. At the very end of the last day we made lasting eye contact and i couldn't stop smiling. She left quickly afterwards though so i didn't find out her name.

Later that day she sends me a friend request on Facebook. I then am embarrassed to realize she was younger than she looked. 13 years old so dating her would be very unethical. I questioned whiter or not to accept the friend request because i knew she liked me and i didn't want to give her false hope or tempt myself. I messed up though and accepted the request. I hoped that would be it but the next day she messaged me. I then wasn't sure whether it would be appropriate to respond but i did because i didn't want to be mean. I didn't want to lead her on so i didn't initiate any of the conversations. I can tell that she's trying to get to know me but i feel like i may be crossing a line. I know if i had a 13 year old daughter i'd be pissed/worried/concerned if i found out a 19 your old guy liked her.

Should i just straight up tell her we can't be together? Should i not respond to messages? I just don't see a way this ends well for me. Please give serious answers. I just need advice.
