This component in my TV makes a strange noise and I think is the cause of the TV not switching on,

I thought I'd try to replace it before taking the TV to a shop, anybody recognise what it is?

Not sure how many Pro Audio guys are here but currently I own four Electro-Voice SX100+ Speakers which work well for mains but it's impractical to use all 4 at events. I've come accross a used pair of Electro-Voice ZX5 speakers, I used to own a pair of zx4 speakers which I absolutely loved and regret selling they could just be so loud and so clear so I suppose the newer zx5's would be even better.

My other choice would be a pair of Tour X 12" speakers. The two speakers I can get for about the same price.

I'm looking at buying a Volkswagen Transporter Van. It's only a 2 seater and there are times when I want to be able to carry at least 4. Am I able to install seats in the back and bolt them to the floor and of course add seat belts. I presume I would have to get it approved somehow. But is it possible?

Several months ago I bought a Digital Designs M4a amplifier from eBay. I agreed to pickup the amplifier from the guys house but later decided to insted have him ship it as it was easier. Unfortunately according to him Australia Post broke it and it was not insured (yes I know it should have been) I've never received any evidence of the broken amplifier or the amp even existing at all. But I've always believed this guy was legit since I was going to pick it up from him in person.

The amplifier was $1000, he paid back $550 and told me he would have the rest that week. That was maybe 2 months ago. He claims his work shuts down over Christmas and did not have any money. I understood as my work does the same. But now after sending 2 text messages I'm no longer getting any response from him where he would usually respond straight away.

Being under the assumption that he has no intention of paying the rest back what can I do? I have his bank account details, home address and phone number. Is that enough to give to Police to have them knock at his door and give him a warning or something? It's been too long and I'm getting more an more suspicious.

It's also important to note the purchase did not officially go through eBay (I know I'm an idiot but I figured again, I spoke to the guy, he's legit) I cannot use eBay buyer protection securities etc.

I was thinking today about having Pro Audio subwoofers in a car. I mean their generally cheaper, and they are much more efficient. I once wanted to run an 18" Pro Audio sub in my car but the issue was it was an 8 Ohm woofer which was difficult. But If I had 4 woofers I could get an impedance of 1 Ohm which is perfect for most amps.

The description seems to be missing but the title says '1000w', so we could presume 500w RMS, so with 4 18" woofers I would only need a 2000w RMS amp (I'd go a bit over but just as an example).

Are there any member rides on here using Pro Audio subwoofers?

How would 4 of these compare to my single Fi SP4? I would assume Pro Audio subs wouldn't be able to play the lows as well but tuning could help?

I have a Golf MK3 2.0 currently with a single 225 Amp upgraded alternator. To have a custom made 320 Amp alternator made would be $800 so I was to go with dual alternators instead. I want to buy a second 225 Amp. I have mocked up how I thought they could be mounted. I can use a metal strip to hold the two together, each alternator has 1 factory mounting point. Take a look at the picture, could this work? I understand I would also have to modify the factory ECU connector and I will also need a longer fan belt.

The alternator at the top is the new 225 Amp, the bottom is the old 90 Amp which I'm just using to test how they can be mounted.

I had a guy today offer $50 for my account, I said no and joked $200 thinking it would shut him up. However he accepted straight away, in fact offering more. I received two days ago $250 AUD into my Paypal account. I gave him the password but have just now changed it because I believe I could get more for it. How much could it be worth? Or should I let this guy have it for $250?

Hard to explain I know but I have an Optima Yellowtop with a SoundStream amplifer on a test bench, can harm occur to the amplifier if I have a battery charger (10 Amp RMS) on when playing music.

It will not be on all the time, just when playing music for extra power and to keep it charged.

I fear I may have made a big mistake in changing my brake fluid on my 1995 Golf MK3.

The fluid was really dirty so I pulled off the tube leading directly into the pump.

When I did so the fluid began to come out but there was a whistling sound like air was being sucked in.

Is this bad? I put the pipe back on after a few seconds because I was worried but is it normal?

I saw tonight on NCIS a computer stand that I had never really seen before and was wondering if I could get one I've checked eBay but don't know what to search. The stand was a tripod with 4 wheels and a centre pole in the middle with a keyboard and mouse coming off an arm and then the monitor up above. I presume it would have to be run by a laptop computer since there would be no cables I can't think of how the monitor would be powered though. It may not even exist but has anyone seen anything like this?
