Why do so many cameras take pictures in 3x4 when most are printed in different ratios?
For example, on shutterfly, here are the "large print" picture options:
11x14 Print $7.99 (5.5x7 or 3.14/4)
16x20 Print $17.99 (4x5)
20x30 Print $22.99 (2x3)
None of these are exactly the right dimensions, so if I print a picture I will either have to crop it to fit or will have white strips on a side.
I know that wide angle lenses take pictures in different ratios, but other than that, am I missing something here?
What should I do with a photo of native ratio 4x3 if I don't want to crop it?
1 AnswerPhotography9 years agoHow large can I print this picture without it looking "bad"?
I know that "bad" is subjective, but I guess that's what Yahoo! Answers is for.
Here is the image: http://postimage.org/image/calqx5f1x/
It is a jpeg, and is 3648x2736 pixels.
I think it was a 10.1 MP Kodak EasyShare.
Thank you in advance.
3 AnswersPhotography9 years agoHow large can I print this picture before it looks grainy?
I took a picture with, I believe, a 10.1 MP camera.
I want to print it as large as possible, but don't want it to look crappy.
Here is the info on the file:
3648x2736 pixels
480 dpi both vertically and horizontally
Bit depth: 24
size: 2.56 MB
Thanks!
8 AnswersPhotography9 years agoWhere can I get a force gage that can output realtime data to a computer?
I am trying to build a device that will measure the amount of force (or power) generated by a swimmer while they are swimming. In order to do this, I need a force gage that can output data to a computer, but I have no idea where to even start to look for something like this.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
