  • Community & Judgement?

I was playing an online game when some tried to ruin it. I wished there was some sort of punishment available. I thought what if you had to wear an electric shock collar to play a game, so others could shock you?

It would not work, it would soon turn into chaos and then groups would attack innocent players.

Conclusion - The more power and freedom we have, the worse we behave???  Like "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely"?  I do not like that thought and yet I cannot seem to find an argument against it, other than the very weak "Well at least some would not take advantage".  It used to be said in Britain a long time ago that you could tell the character of a gentleman by the way he treats his servants in private.  This concept seems to be frequently re-discovered, suggesting it is permanent part of the human psyche and that treating others fairly, even when you can get away not doing so, is a higher attribute of civilization?

What are your thoughts on this?

  • Brother SE400 Sewing machine - Need advice please?

Please can anyone tell me when sewing the included fonts on the SE400, does it cut the threads between the letters automatically, or do you have to separate all the letters with fine scissors afterwards?

Thank you very much for your help!

  • Does an object being acted on by gravity have inertia?

It is bad etiquette to hijack someone else's question, so it was this question by alzar10 here:

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=200909...

That set me thinking. We all know after Galileo that objects fall at the same rate, irrespective of mass and ignoring air resistance.

I got around to thinking of two free bodies in space then, one massively large than the other, but suddenly hit two questions I'd never considered previously.

    1) Does gravity have to overcome inertia? If so, then that would mean that objects will more readily attracted if the lighter one is a bit lighter? The difference would be astonishingly small of course, but it would exist.

    2) My second problem came in that perhaps the difference is off-set in the very small difference in attraction between the Earth-Cannonball and Earth-Feather. Any object with mass generates it's own gravitational field, again astonishingly small for a cannonball and a feather in relation to the Earth, but it is mathematically calculable.

Please, I did the calculation back in College many years ago and cannot remember it now, that proved all objects fall to Earth at the same speed - Can anyone remember it? - And if there were any assumptions made in the calculation?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
