  • "crying" during alien or ghost movies?

Every time he watches a realistic alien or ghost type movie (like The Fourth Kind) my husband's eyes start watering like crazy, just dripping everywhere and his nose gets runny and he feels like he can't breathe. This has been happening since he was a little kid watching E.T. in the theater. Has anyone ever heard of this type of reaction? It isn't a huge deal or anything, just kinda annoying for him and pretty weird. Just wondering what could be causing this. Thanks.

  • Party ideas for my rocker son?

My son is turning 3 in a couple weeks and he is really into music, especially guitars and the Imagination Movers. I was thinking of doing a rockstar themed party, but I am having trouble coming up with activities and party food ideas. There will be kids there ranging in age from 2 to 9, so I want it to be fun for all of them. My other son turned 2 last week and we had a Handy Manny party w/ a fiesta theme, so I want something completely different from that. Thanks.

  • Getting a Basset Hound puppy this weekend?

I am so excited to finally be getting a Basset Hound; they have been my favorite breed for a very long time, but I have a few questions...

    1. I have read about bloat and I am planning on feeding him 3 times a day, but I am unsure about water. I have read that they shouldn't be given water right before eating, so should I leave water out all the time and take it up an hour or so before feeding. Or do I only offer water at certain times or what?

    2. I am planning on using a crate until he can sleep through the night. We are going to put the crate in our bedroom at night, so should I move it in the living room during the day? I didn't know if he will get upset or something if I am always moving his bed around. I am home all day.

    3. What is the best kind of brush to get up all the shedding hairs, and I have been told to brush him once a week, but is more often ok, if I were to brush him every day would that irritate his skin or anything?

Thanks for the help. If you have anymore information that would be great. This will be my first dog (except ones when I was little). My grandfather had one and it was so sweet!

Any other Basset specific tips you have would be appreciated!!!!

  • Question for you VEGANS out there on a budget?

I am trying to start eating vegan but I am on a very tight budget and it seems like a lot of the specialty foods are so expensive. I am nervous about cutting dairy products from my diet, well more my babies' diets. How can I go vegan without breaking the bank and still know I am giving my children all the vitamins they need?

Do I need to get B12 supplements for my children or any other vitamins or anything?

Also what kind of "milk" do you like best, we have only tried Silk and my kids spit it out.

Thanks for any help you can give me, and if you know any good websites where I can get more info I would appreciate it.

  • Chuck E Cheese dilemma?

This past weekend we went to a party at Chuck E Cheese. My kids had a lot of fun, but when we left my 2 1/2 year old started crying because he wanted to go back.

We left at 2pm and he cried ALL DAY until we went to bed. This is not something that he has ever done before.

Now his grandma wants to take him there again tomorrow.

On the one hand I don't want to go through that again. I kind of just want him to forget about it. He hasn't cried about it again, but he still asks to go back. Actually he is asking me right now as I type.

On the other hand he had a lot of fun, and he usually doesn't cry at all, so maybe that was just a one time thing.

What do you guys think? Should I take him again or should we stay home?

  • What do I do with my baby's frizzy curly hair?

I have zero experience styling curly hair.

My son has really cute curly hair, and I do not want to cut it yet. When he wakes up in the morning and after nap it just looks like a frizzy mess though, like when you pull a cotton-ball apart. I used to wet it and let it air dry, but now that it is getting cold I don't want to do that anymore. Anyone know what else I can do with it?

  • Anyone tried Geotrax toys?

I was thinking about getting Geotrax train and airplane sets for my son, but I was wondering if they hold up as well for young kids as they say. My kids tend to tear train sets apart.

  • My abs are still separated 10 months postpartum. Are they ever gonna go back together?

I worked out on and off at first and I am just starting to exercise really regularly. My sons are 11 months apart (so time is a luxury I am rarely afforded). I hadn't even started exercising from my first son before I was pregnant again, so I never even fixed the abdominal separation from my first son. Is it too late to get my abs back?
