  • Splash out on the Naked 3 Palette or get the Dupes?

This is my first post but here is my dilemma.

I know most people here are from the US so I will do some price conversions to help.

I am from the UK and the Naked 3 is £37 = $61.99

After scouring youtube I came across these dupes, there were quite a few reviews which said all 3 were dupes for each Naked palette.

    http://www.superdrug.com/eye-make-up/makeup-revolu

they retail for £4 each, so making them a lot more affordable, even for all 3!

Since I've never owned a Naked palette I can't directly compare myself, I do own other urban decay shadows and I really do like them.

Is it worth me splashing out or will the dupes do?

  • why do people pay so much for used clothing on eBay?

This is just a general question but I only recently started using eBay for trying to get a pair of TopshopJeans for less than retail price. However, from day one I found not only do most end up selling over £10 but usually well over £25, even if actual photos of garments aren't used. Is this normal for eBay madness? If so then I simply cannot understand why that is the case, it is good for the sellers though, but I ask generally, if you are a person who does this, why it is the case?

  • provisional licence photo too big? (picture included)?

I should be sending out for my provisional licence with my photo by monday and i had some new passport style photos taken in a booth which appeared fine.

The photo itself is of the correct size (45x35mm)

However the rules have stated the head cannot be larger than 34mm and upon measuring my own on the photo it is 36mm.

Will this cause the DVLA to reject my form and send it back? I don't really have time to waste as I will have to send off my passport and I won't have any ID for that period of time.

here is a photo of it:

if you see anything else wrong I shall be ever grateful

    Thank you for any help!

PS Sorry about posting this here, I have already onto the insurance section and no one is replying :(

I know from experience there are a lot of people on this category!

  • H+/MnO4 + Cl- write the redox equation?

    H+/MnO4 + Cl- -> ________

I know H+ means acidified but I am having trouble viewing the half equations.

Especially since the products are not given.

Any extra explanation on dealing with this type of question will be helpful.

    Thank you for any help!

  • I am just extremely stressed out, what else could I do?

I've never had this problem before, but it started earlier in the summer, and has become even worse since I went back to school to start AS levels.

This is probably the root of the problem, but of course at this point in my life I have never been as stressed as I ever was before, so prepare for a rather ranty list:

    - the work levels have soared

    - parents are being a nightmare: incredibly strict and restricting, especially since I have been getting into relationships, with no offence to the strict asian culture I have been brought up in, this is pretty much self explanatory

    - as a result of this, I feel distanced from friends, and even the boyfriend, who can't relate because they are from the local english culture, therefore there's no real support system here

In the end I just feel abandoned and rather lonely, not like a 16 year old should, any real insight would be helpful here.

  • how to promote a new make up/beauty blog?

    hey everyone :)

I don't want to seem like I am just trying to get popularity but I've recently started up my own blog

    thelifeofnuz.blogspot.com

if you want to take a look feel free, its quite bare as of now but first post is up!

anyway, sadly I don't have a massive audience I already know of beauty queens to suggest my blog to, I would like to get started and want to know how to get others to read it without sounding like a spammer on any forums etc,

any popular bloggers already on here?

how did you manage to get your word across?

also if you can give any feedback on how to improve my blog that would be great :)

thanks so much for any decent answers!

    xx

  • at what age did you start wearing make up? and other Qs inside :)?

    honestly...

I started at 14, and not because i have bad skin,

I was just curious, even though it did help to even out strange uneven tones on my face!

but you get so many people on here complaining about age and when to wear it

however, whats the point of coming on the make up section and arguing about natural beauty and preserving it when you are young? its pointless

anyway, my question actually is to all of you,

when did you start wearing make up?

how much do you tend to wear?

and whats your product you can't live without?

I wear make up daily, but very little on days I don't need to pile it on, such as school,

the excessive use of foundation would take its toll otherwise

but I never go without my mascara, since my eye looks naked without

    thanks for answers :)

  • NARS Orgasm made me break out! anyone suggest a good primer?

My skin is quite good despite some growing dark circles due to tiredness and uneven tones. Therefore I haven't used much primer in my time, I have one from boots which is 'Shine Free Make Up Base' by No 7.

This weekend I finally managed to pick up the infamous Orgasm blush by NARS. A beautiful colour but immediately I noticed some small spots along my cheek, I only break out on allergic reactions or if my skin is too oily, which it never is as its natually dry. I have broken out to another product before though, a foundation by L'Oreal a while back.

Though I haven't had a problem with sensitive skin so far it does run in my family

Does a primer help avoid breakouts since it creates a layer between the skin and make up?

and which primer would be best for this sort of situation? As acne isn't a main problem of mine but if I want to continue using this blusher (it wasn't cheap and I adore the shade)

Sorry for the essay, thanks for any answers! :)

    xx

  • A really christmassy look? I'm throwing the board open!?

Christmas definitely gets more women wearing make up, whether they wear a lot daily or not,

I'm trying to think of a nice christmas look to wear, try not to make the things needed overly fussy, stick to the colours used instead of products and brands, unless you need to refer to a certain product for the colour, and also let me know what you're doing for your christmas look as well, I'd love to know!

    Have a happy holiday guys!

  • How do you remove your make up?

So I was watching YouTube videos the other day, typical gurus talking about their hauls and one said she hadn't really used make up removing wipes as a cleansing method before, so it hit me, since wipes have always been my removal method, I wonder what other people use, and if wipes are the most popular method, I felt more forced to use wipes than normal water because of course not all make up comes off with just water. At the end of every day I've put make up on, I use a 4in1 wipe just to get rid of it all (maybe 2) I don't usually wash my face after as it's a 4in1 wipe, but of course this method isn't always the most effective and it creates a lot of rubbish. So I'm keen to know what your method is, and if it works well for you and why. Thanks for answers :)

  • Cheap stippling brush in the UK?

Similar to the MAC 187 but not the scary price ;)

I just want to try a cheap alternative first, instead of getting shouted at by my parents!

    Thanks for any useful suggestions!

  • What sort of make up brushes do you use?

I'm 15 and have been wearing make up for about a year now (no comments on the skin, just a personal choice)

I've bought high end make up plenty of times before but never an actual brush, when I see the price my jaw drops, especially at the amount of brushes you will probably need to get flawless make up.

So far all of my brushes have been fairly cheap, and application has been fine apart from in the eye shadow department, where I find it quite difficult to apply. I know that expensive brushes will be much better for your skin, but so far my cheap ones haven't done me wrong.

But anyway my question is what sort of make up brushes do you use? do you decide to spend on expensive ones or make do with the less pricey? considering my age I doubt I could get a full set of expensive brushes in one go, but is it worth starting to collect up?

Thanks for any decent answers! :)

  • What about these indices?

sorry I just have a couple more simultaneous equations I can't get my head around :(

    xy^5 = -96

    2xy^3 = -48

    and...

    2^p+q = 32

    3^q/3^2p=6561

apologies for the lack of proper symbols, thanks for the help!

    3 AnswersMathematics1 decade ago
  • How would you solve this simultaneous equation?

I can't seem to solve it!

    p² + 3pq = 10

    p = 2q

I think I'm doing my substitution wrong as I keep getting wrong answers!

I don't understand how to do this, anyone help?

    thanks :)

  • What is this dance song?

It was popular a few years ago, the singers female

in the music video it has the singers in revealing bright gym outfits and using gym equipment

they have massive fake eyelashes and are (successfully) impressing some muscular men who are also in the video, the set is brightly coloured but not actually a gym...I think

    the song is dance/electronica

I know its a long shot but does anyone know the song I am talking about?

if anyone gets it first they have best answer :) I do have the tune in my head but I can't really explain how it goes on here!
