  • What does this drunk text message translate to?

Sent my ex a message saying "happy New Years it's not the same without you" and the response was:

"happy new year to you to and I semi with trying not title bad miss you"

I've been screwing around with iPhone autocorrect to figure out what semi and title could be but no words I try seem feasible. For context the next message was:

"sorry not what you want to read when you're drunks"

"sorry i know you're out with your friends and it doesn't matter what I say"

And we've texted casually the last few days but idk I guess I'm getting mixed signals, and I think this one might explain a lot.

  • How to calculate pH of solution of lemon juice and water?

I am trying to make a solution of a certain pH level. I haven't studied this in detail, but assume there is a simple equation to predict this. Here is an example:

Given 500 mL of water (pH 7), how many mL of lemon juice (pH 2) needs to be added to make it a solution that is pH 6?

  • If I am asking my doctor about Adderall, is it a bad idea to mention that I've tried it before?

Normally I have trouble concentrating. A friend gave me an Adderall and I was able to pay attention in classes and I was able to remember everything much more easily than before. I was able to finish every day tasks in half the time. I legitimately think that it would be an improvement for my life if I had a prescription, but I don't want to go to the doctor sounding like a drug addict. Is it smart to mention I've taken it before or not?

  • How to get rid of mens wavy hair?

All my life I've had really thick, wavy hair (very puffy and curly when it gets longer). I never really paid attention to it until recently, but I've had the same looking hair for at least 10 years. It's frustrating because I really wanna try something new, but I don't know anything about hair care.

Hair gel doesn't even work, my hairs too heavy to spike, and even if it's gelled it ends up looking wavy. I started using conditioner a couple of weeks ago, and it made it a little shinier and smoother feeling, but it didn't really help with the waviness. I'm looking for a permanent solution with as little upkeep as possible. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Here's some ideas I found after poking around on the internet a little, what do you guys think?

    - Shampoo every other day, use a moisturizing conditioner every day.

    - Leave-in conditioner

    - Straightening cream / relaxors

    - Thin my hair. Best bet is going to a stylist, but I'm kinda low on money, and unless this is a surefire solution, I'd rather save the money and try to do it myself. I got hats lol. Anyone have any suggestions/techniques?

(If anyone can name some men's products that'd be great, the shampoo/conditioner isle at Walmart is a little daunting when your out for a generic product. Thanks to anyone who answers, I really appreciate it, not many friends to toss hair ideas at where I'm from, haha.

  • What is an odd integrand?

This is for Calc2.. I had to find the integral of sin (x^19) on [1,-1]. In the solution it said that because its an odd integrand over [1,-1] it's 0.

How do I know if an integrand is odd or not? Because otherwise you just make it 2 * integral over [1,0] correct?

  • Isn't judging something before trying it childish?

Everyone can imagine the little kid who sees some tasty food, like crab, and refuses to eat it just because it "doesn't look good." I know some people like crab, but you all know what I mean.

People act the same way marijuana. It is a harmless substance that the government has convinced, through the DARE program, middle school kids is bad (the one conspiracy theory I know is true). These people don't even know why it is bad, but they believe it.

Am I the only one in the world ashamed to be human when I meet people who think that it is the tool of the devil when they haven't even tried it?

  • I've been thinking too much lately...?

Truth be told I'm tired of thinking. These days, the more I think about something, the more often I encounter truth that I don't want to "hear". Everything can seem so complicated at times, and when I think about it this way, everything seems so unimportant or dull. Other times I am content, the day to day activities that make up my life seem to have importance and meaning, at least as far as immediate times demand.

I know I am far from achieving any intellect or understanding that nobody has attained before... Which is why I just wanted to know if anyone else out there feels like this? Better yet, which decision did you make: living out your days in blissful ignorance, ignoring that gnawing feeling that everything is explainable and yet incomplete, or did you somehow convince yourself that a life dedicated to knowing and understanding will be in your best interests?

  • Why is it racist to believe in differences between race?

Science has evidence to support the theory that humans first evolved in Africa and spread out eastward until they encompassed the earth. That means that different ethnic groups were evolving separately in different geological locations around the globe for thousands of years. Different social and environmental facts could, and according to evolution, most likely, created more than just differences in skin color.

  • Why is AI considered artificial?

Who's to say that it is artificial intelligence as opposed to real intelligence? Over time any computer program is going to encounter errors in which its code will change just a little bit, like natural selection. AI would evolve in just the way that humans did.

  • Is second best really being be second?

I hate sounding cocky like this but whatever. I started programming my sophomore year of high school. I was doing very advanced stuff with computers early on. Things people don't learn until they graduate college. When I actually got to college however, my perspective changed. I would rather go out with friends and do things that don't benefit my life (other than socially) rather than put the effort forward to stay ahead of the game. Freshmen year of college I was that one kid who would always be done with the test first, I would always be acing my tests, but now, I am content with finishing in the middle.

In my mind I am sacrificing being the best programmer of my age for being average. I don't care though, I have friends and better relationships as a result. Am I going to regret not being first for the rest of my life?

  • Why don't I get hangovers anymore?

I'm not looking for the medical reasons of tolerance and addiction and such. I've read that before. I want real peoples stories of when they stopped getting hangovers or at least when it stopped happening as often.

  • Why do people care if a person drinks or not?

I'm not talking like drinking to the point where they lose their job, drop out of school, and lose their family. If someone drinks a little, gets a little drunk, and are responsible, it won't do anything but make them happier for a while. Maybe people need to stop worrying about others and worry about themselves for a while. If those people had a bad experience, maybe they need to work through it, and realize that everyone else isn't as irresponsible as them.

And no, this problem doesn't apply to me other than that I'm just sick of seeing random people giving holier-than-thou lectures to people who actually enjoy their drinking.

  • If I'm caught after smoking... should I admit it?

Say a cop catches me shortly after smoking the ganja and asks if I've been smoking weed / if I'm high. Should I admit to doing it? I find it hard to believe if I say I may have smoked pot earlier that I will avoid punishment. This is in Illinois by the way.

This also assumes I have no paraphernalia / cannabis on me.

  • Why do humans poison themselves?

I'm looking for some more intellectual answers here. Has evolution made us enjoy drinking (or other drugs) for a reason? I haven't been able to find anything on Google. Anyone have theories or links?

  • Mixing drinks makes you drunker?

Believe me, I know the back story to these types of questions. I have plenty of people who tell me never to drink beer and then hard alcohol. And most of all never switch back or to something then. After a few years of good experience I think it's all bull... It all just adds up over time and you forget how much you've had..

What are "professional" drinkers opinions on this matter?

  • Does tolerance to alcohol's effects develop at different rates?

I've noticed over the past month that what happens to me when I'm drunk is changing, most likely because of some sort of tolerance. I don't feel as drunk, my coordination remains good, and my vision stays solid. My inhibitions are definitely lowered (more than before the tolerance) and I make worse decisions though. I was just curious if it is common to gain tolerance to some effects but not all of alcohol.
