Embroidery machine tension?
A few days ago the threads got stuck on my embroidery machine. It broke the needle. I replaced the needle, then it broke again, then another 3 times. Looking into it I changed tension each time, checked the threads etc but even though it now seems to be sewing ok the upper thread tension has been changed from +2 to -7 and it still seems a little tight.
Could the needle breakages have messed with the tension? Is there a way to reset it or manually fix it?
It was working fine for months before this
Machine is Brother Innovis 750e - upper thread tension is changed with the computer (on the machine)
There was also a major power cut the day before, even though the machine was plugged in it was not turned on.
1 AnswerHobbies & Crafts8 years agoDo I need permission to write an information book?
I'm writing an info book about conventions. There won't be any images only names then a blurb about said place, a website and maybe a contact/info email (no email that wouldn't be on their website already). As its all text, would I need to seek permission from the conventions to print their name and contact info even if it's already in the public domain?
I know about copyright regarding images which is why there won't be any :)
1 AnswerBooks & Authors8 years agoProblem with aquarium filter - marina s15?
I recently upgraded my tank from 35lt to 60lt. While the fish settled I used the old filter (TetraTec IN400) then recently I set up the new filter (marina s15) to run alongside the old as advised by my LFS. However, the marina s15, even though advertised as ultra quiet, seems to be making a lot of noise and a slight rattling noise.
I've had the new filter on for a week now, but it doesn't seem to have gotten quieter. Is it normal for the new filter to make more noise than advertised or have I ended up with a faulty one?
I checked the blades inside and they're fine. Nothing is stuck inside either. There is nothing against the filter to make it rattle. It has the pads inside the filter case.
Any suggestions are welcome :)
1 AnswerFish8 years agoProblem with aquarium lighting - light too bright for fish?
I recently upgraded my fish tank from a tank whose original light had broken so I had to replace it with LED strip lighting to a brand new tank which included a lid with a SunGlo 15w Fluorescent Bulb (18inch)
However, I have noticed my fish hide constantly with the new light on. I believe it is too bright for them. Compared to the LED lighting I've been using for nearly a year it's very very bright. Does any one have any suggestions on how to either make it dimmer to get them used to it slowly or know of a tube which is not as bright as the SunGlo range?
I had constant problems with failing LEDs so would prefer not to go down that route again if possible. It would be a shame to not take advantage of the brand new tank lid
:(
6 AnswersFish8 years agoCan anyone suggest any decent dragon movies?
I'm on the lookout for dragon movies; animated, anime or live action/cgi. I've seen most of the recent cinema ones and am wondering if anyone can suggest any decent older, anime or straight to dvd movies which have dragons in them?
I do mean in the majority of the film when I say movies containing dragons, not just a 5 min feature :)
They don't have to be dubbed in English, but English subtitles are a must.
5 AnswersMovies8 years agoUpgrading fish tank from 35 to 60 litres?
I'm upgrading my goldfish tank from 35 to 60 litres. The filter will remain the same for now as it can handle the new tanks size (TetraTec IN400) (filter will be upgraded at a later date) all gravel etc will also be moved over. The new tank will hold just 2 goldfish of approx 10-15 cm (including tails) and live plants.
My question is regarding the biology of the tank, if I transfer everything including the water then top up the tank to 60litres with clean water on the same day, will the tank start to cycle again? Would it be better to use the old water, top up half way on the same day (making 30 litres in a 60 litre tank) then add 5-7 litres of new water a week to eventually get it to 60 litres 5 weeks later?
I would like to make it as stressfree as possible for the fish as one in particular can get very nervous.
I was considering the first way of transferring the tank over, But would like advice over which way would be better. Thanks :)
On a side note, I am unable to have the new tank cycling before transferring the fish. I do not have room for both tanks to be set up.
2 AnswersFish8 years agoDoes anyone have the AR Code for UK Pokemon White 2 to change a pokemon's encounter to fateful?
I have looked everywhere for the Fateful Encounter AR code for the UK Pokemon White 2. I have already caught the pokemon (through AR as the official download event is yet to be confirmed in the UK) and just need the change it's encounter from 'met on route 20' to a 'fateful encounter'
Is anyone able to find out what this is? Or know where I can track it down?
Thanks :)
2 AnswersVideo & Online Games9 years agoWhy is my goldfish breathing fast and keeping one gill closed?
I bought a new goldfish a few weeks ago. After I got him home I realized he had white spot so I placed him in a smaller quarantine tank and put GoldMed (a general tonic) in to cure it. I also used water from the main tank to help customize him to the water before he moved to the larger tank and used a filter above the water and oxygen tablets to help with aeration. As it neared the end of the two week course the fish started breathing quicker, although wasn't gasping at the surface and showed no more signs of white spot. I put this fast breathing down to the medicine in the tank (maybe slight lack of oxygen) and a slightly high ammonia reading (1ppm). So, when the two week course finished I placed him in the big tank with the others.
After a week in the big tank he was still breathing fast but showed no other signs of illness apart from keeping one gill closed. He does open both when feeding and occasionally when swimming. He's extremely active for a fish who seems like he can't breathe!! He eats well, eating so enthusiastically he sometimes gulps bubbles which come out through his gills. He does seem thinner compared to the others, but I don't think he's loosing any more weight, the other fish are also possibly slightly 'podgy'. His where abouts in the tank varies; sometimes he's near the bottom, sitting in the hiding pot or hanging near the surface (in front of filter and behind). His fins are slightly clamped but don't stay that way all the time, if he's swimming to see me or feeding his fins are erect.
While he has been in the big tank I gave all the fish a weeks dose of "Disease Safe" (a different general tonic) then a week later (after using carbon to remove the left over medicine and a 20% water change, as recommended by my local Aquarium Shop) a 3 day dose of "eSHa EXIT" but the gasping fish has shown little, if any, improvement. I think I will be continuing the dose for another 2 days, tomorrow will be day 4. But if anyone has any other ideas about what can be wrong please let me know!!!
The tank is a cold water tank containing 5 Goldfish (single tailed) and 1 Algae Eater
The other fish are all fine, fit and healthy.
The gasping goldfish is eating fine and moving often, but breathes fast and keeps one gill closed (always same one) He doesn't gasp at the surface
Ammonia and Nitrite are 0 ppm
Nitrate is about 10 ppm
PH is about 7.5 or 8
There is aquarium salt in the tank at the standard dose (half tea spoon per 3.4 liters)
We have tested for all different types of chemicals and done all tests possible for aquariums (phosphate, KH, PH etc)
No sprays, deodorants, scented candles etc are used in the room
