  • How do I change the language from Arabic to English on my new Nokia phone?

I just bought a Nokia 2700 as a second phone while my main phone is in for repairs. As I bought it here in the middle east the language is preset to Arabic - is there a way I can change this to english, without the hassle of going back into the store?

  • how do I correctly connect my macbook pro to my TV?

I have a macbook pro and a new philips TV. I have the hdmi cable and the other adapting cable/device which plugs into the macbook. I have followed what common sense suggests so far but my problem is this. When I connect it all up, all I see on my TV is my laptop's desktop background but not any of the icons or anything else I might have open at the time. I have played with resolutions in the display window but with no joy.

I am a complete novice so as simple as possible is best - imagine you're explaining it a technophobe and you'll get it right.

  • Why won't my new dvd home theatre system work?

I just bought a new philips HTS3578W home theatre system and have connected it up to my TV and satellite box. When I switch on the power all I get is the red standby light. No matter what I press on the remote or the dvd player itself nothing else happens. What am I missing?

  • How do I transfer all the music I have on my ipod into my itunes library on my macbook?

I have thousands and thousands of songs on my ipod which made up my entire itunes library built up over years. Some of them I downloaded from itunes others I acquired from here there and everywhere. Unfortunately, I had to have the hard drive replaced on my macbook and lost everything that was on there - including all my music. I have it still on my ipod and wondered if there was a simple way to get it back on my laptop?

  • What bit me at the weekend?

I'm in the Middle East at the moment and spent a night in a chalet on a beach at the weekend. I didn't go into the water at all and had walking boots with socks on for most of the time, except for about 30mins when I was away from the water and sand. While sitting out I started to feel itchy on the back of my ankles on both feet and thought it was a mosquito bite but as I don't really react too badly I took no notice. That was four days ago and I am still feeling itchy. My left ankle has a big red mark on it (about the size of a normal adult's hand) with two puncture wounds and is sore, itchy, swollen slightly and painful when I touch it. It also hurts slightly or feels tight when I walk. I'm wondering what bit me; I've never had this kind of reaction to a bee or mosquito and used to get bitten by ants all the time when I lived in the UK and again never had a bad reaction. The other ankle, though a little red and itchy is not giving me any problems at all really.

  • Where would I start if I was planning to drive to the Uk from Bahrain?

I would love to drive home to the UK from Bahrain where I'm currently working. I wondered how I would go about organising such an adventure.

  • What type of flowers would be good to grow in containers on a balcony in Bahrain?

I need to add some colour to this arid landscape and want to try growing some flowers and lush plants to brighten up my home away from home but I have limited space - about 1m by 2m, maybe even less if I want to stick a deck chair out there to sit on when it isn't too dusty.

The climate over here is boiling hot, dry, dry, dry and very very dusty.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

  • Anyone know what I am looking at here?

I live in Birmingham UK and if I face north (maybe slightly east-ish) I can see a VERY bright star quite low in the sky. It tends to come out very early in the evening and it seems really low as if it is very near to earth. It is twice the size of anything else I can see with a naked eye. What is it?

  • What is a decent telescope for a complete and utter beginner?

I know nothing about the stars and to unashamedly demonstrate my ignorance I should tell you that I only just found out today that I've been staring at part of Orion for the last decade thinking 'oh that's a pretty little arrow'. I don't know my Venus from my Sirius or the big dipper for that matter.

I would however like to do something about my ignorance and fancy buying a telescope that I could use to improve my understanding. This will only be a light hobby so I don't want to spend too much. Any ideas?

  • Does anyone have a link to the old mushy peas advert where the pea is on a conveyor belt and made to cry?

I've searched on the web and can't find it. Would love to see it again. The one on Youtube is slightly different.

  • what is the name of the song played in the new ER trailer in the UK?

and who sang it? I really like it even though you don't get to hear any lyrics except something that sounds like a lot of O O O.

  • can you get a virus onto your ipod through i-tunes?

I had a really good ipod that worked for ages and then started playing up. Apple replaced it with a new one but first time of charging it up and loading my songs on there and it's already not working.

Half the song titles are just that - with no music and if I try to play some songs they just frieze the ipod for a good half hour or so.

I'm wondering if it's my pc/software or the ipod itself?

  • To do or not to do? - that is the question?

I got married and divorced and am now quite happy on my own. My family and my friends think I should get back on the horse so to speak but I'm not sure I want to take the risk again. I've already broken with traditions once by getting divorced as it is a HUGE no no where I come from and, more importantly, I'm not sure my sanity could take a second battering with misery. So do I play it safe and stay happy but alone or do I risk my happiness and give the whole relationship thing another go?
