  • Swing revival / Neo-swing music with aggressive lyrics?

I find that most music in this genre is cheesy and has embarrassing lyrics e.g. singing about swing music. However, I've come across a few tracks which I think are awesome:

Royal Crown Revue - Mugzy's Move

Cherry Poppin' Daddies - Drunk Daddy

Panic! At The Disco - There's A Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey...

Do you know any swing revival bands / songs which are classy and have cool lyrics?

  • What is wrong with my mum?

I get on fine with the rest of my family but my mum is driving me crazy. Here's why:

    - She has false beliefs and perceptions which do not change even when they are proved to be wrong. For example, she keeps saying I have gotten smaller / lost weight even though I showed her by standing on a scale that I have gained several kilograms of muscle mass by bodybuilding.

    - Whenever I say something that contradicts her biased opinions, it doesn't actually go into her head. She just continues talking about an unrelated topic and is unable to tell me what I just said to her. She has egocentric conversations like a very young child.

    - She repeatedly initiates conversations about food, then when I reply she has a go at me, saying "all you ever talk about is food".

    - She keeps including dairy products in my meals even though she knows that I am a vegan- I don't know if this is intentional or thoughtlessness. Today she grated my vegan cheese on top of some pasta, which was pointless because the sauce clearly contained milk.

    - Every time I visit she says I'm "acting strange", "fed up with myself" or "cracking up"- When is she comparing to if she says it every time?

    - Last New Year's Eve she tried to force me to stay at home which made me angry. Noticing I was angry, she literally followed me around the house asking what was wrong and if I was "in trouble with my girlfriend". It was really creepy because she'd found out I had a girlfriend the previous night and she became fixated on this. It was in the forefront of her mind and she kept talking about it. I became exasperated and kept shouting at her that she was the problem but the information just wasn't going into her head.

    - She criticises me for NOT eating junk food, claiming I have an eating disorder such as anorexia. This is totally inconsistent with the fact that I eat more than the average person for bodybuilding purposes. She also keeps buying me junk food that I don't ask for and then having a go at me when I don't eat eat, saying I have wasted her money. She is overweight, whereas I have a healthy BMI.

Basically it seems that she wants to control me through my diet, which is corrupting my bodybuilding efforts, veganism, and my desire to eat healthily. After visiting home tonight I started to suspect that she has some sort of disorder because of the inability she has to take in information. Is there some sort of diagnosis for people who completely block out information which is incongruent with their biased attitudes?

  • What are your favourite guitar riffs?

    Mine are:

A Thousand Days - The Offspring

    Pulmonary Archery - Alexisonfire

    Billy - Bad Religion

Idols And Anchors - Parkway Drive

Death Letter - The White Stripes

    36 Degrees - Placebo (chorus)

    Lava Twilight - InMe (verse)

    Neptune - InMe

No One Knows - Green Day (bass intro)

No pathetic Dragonforce or Trivium style 20 minute tapping solos please, just great riffs.

  • Slipping standards on Yahoo Answers?

Not too long ago, Yahoo Answers was a place of learning and discovery, where people of all ages could go to ask questions, answer questions, participate in debates, and generally enrich their knowledge of life. Things are very different now. Today’s low-grade questions hold no educational value whatsoever, to the extent that they cannot even be classed as ‘edutainment’. For instance:

    1. Ah want computa games about horsez?

    2. JOIN MAH HARRY POTTA ROLEPLAY?!

    3. scene haircut???

    4. Do these speedos fit me? (photo included)

    5. Would you call THIS paedophilia?

    6. Need Help With An Maths Question (EASY 10 POINTS!!!)?

Lacklustre answers are even worse, assuming one of only three forms. Users selfishly expect others to invest time and effort into answering their questions, whilst simultaneously failing to produce an answer more accurate or insightful than the following:

    1. Ah dunno lolz

    2. ASNWER MAH QUESTIOB

    3. Ya gay

If I was going to rate the standards of Yahoo Answers on a scale of one to ten, with ten being the highest and one being the lowest, I would be compelled to award it a disappointing three out of ten.

In order to be eligible for ‘Best Answer’ certification, with a view to benefit from its associated prestige, participants will discuss the following question in no more than 100 words:

What’s wrong with these people? :(

  • Suggest a good car for me?

Given that I am a teenage guy, insuring me on my sister's Mini Cooper would cost too much, and so I'm insured on my dad's Vauxhall Zafira instead :(. What is a good car to have myself for which the insurance is affordable? I don't know much about cars by the way...

  • How do you tune an Ibanez RG?

What is the correct procedure? The strings always turn sharp after they have been tuned and it's really annoying. I've already snapped the B string trying to tune it normally :O.

    Thanks

  • Why does my Kool Aid mix suck?

After adding the right amount of water and loads of sugar and stirring it still tastes watery and sour. Is it meant to be like that?

(I live in the UK where Kool Aid is not sold.)

  • How can you tell which of your friends are real and which ones aren't?

I've been completely let down and devastated by the two people I thought were my best friends. After four years of always putting their feelings before mine, I desperately needed something from them for once but no, it was too much to ask. I never thought they would do what they've done in a million years.

So is there any way of telling who you can trust or not?

Are there any bands like early Slipknot who combine funk and metal (Do Nothing/Bitchslap) or any other bands like Enter Shikari and Refused who use samples in their songs?

  • Why is some of my Myspace profile text not being coloured in?

Some of the sections e.g. Television remain black, and the background is also black so they are invisible. Also, the punctuation in the other sections is not coloured in- Why is this?
