is civil engineering a good career choice when compared to mechanical engineering?
i am currently a engineering major, and i was going for mechanical engineering. But I am not sure if mechanical engineerings work inside a building or on the outdoors? i am currently working in construction, and i enjoy it since i like working outdoors and being in different places every week or two. I heard civil engineers work alot on the outdoors, and i think that would be great for me. But i am not sure if civil engineers have a good salary or are in high demand as mechanical engineers?
2 AnswersEngineering4 years agoDifferential equation, reduction of order help!?
The problem is (D^2+2D+1)=(e^x-1)^-2
When i do y=ve^-x. After reducing, I get, V''(e^-x)=(e^x-1)^-2. Alright so I multiply both sides by e^x, and I will find that the first integral will be -ln(e^x-1), but what am i suppose to do for the second integral? the answer should be e^-x(c1+c2x-ln(e^-x-1)) but i am not sure how
1 AnswerMathematics5 years agoDid anyone ever failed a physic class in college?
I received scores below 40 on my first two tests in physics (electricity and magnetism). I understand everything the book says, the derivations and formulas and concepts. I also have an A on my lab, I understand what we are doing. But i failed the tests in lecture, problaby because I didn t practice enough problems, I just read the book. So i will problaby drop the class and I feel awful. I have mostly gotten As and Bs in all my classes. I drop out of high school in my first year because i was failing everything. Now I feel like in high school again and want to drop out from mechanical engineering, did any smart people every failed a physics class?

1 AnswerMathematics5 years agoIf I charge a object by induction and it becomes negative charged, and it is connected by a wire to a sensor and i touch it with my finger?
what would happen? I know that the sensor will read a positive charge. and when I touch it, it will read 0. and when I release the positively charged object, it will read negative, why negative at the end?
1 AnswerPhysics5 years agomy car is releasing vapor from the coolant reservoir tank, what could it be?
i have a 2007 mustang gt and the coolant gets spilled from the top of the coolant tank (all of it) after i turn it on and i get to run for some minutes. The engine does not get overheated, however. The AC works fine as well. I think it has something to do with the thermostat but i am also thinking the head gasket is leaked or blown. or maybe air is trapped in the hoses, what could it be?
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs5 years agohelp with differential equation (3x^2-2y^2)(dy/dx)=2xy, I get x^2=y^2(y+1), and I use v=x/y. please help?
So I start by puting dx/dy in one side of the equation. so (3x^2-2y^2)/(2xy)=dx/dy. then I use substitution v=x/y. so (3x^2-2y^2)/(2xy)=(dv/dy)x+v. after simple algebra I get [(3/2v)-(1/v)-v]dv=dy/y. I finally get y=(x^2/y^2)-2+c. but my book gives me a different answer. please help!!
1 AnswerMathematics5 years agoStatic physics problem?
A construction worker attempts to lift a uniform beam off the floor and raise it to a vertical position. The beam is 3.00 m long and weighs 372 N. At a certain instant, the worker holds the beam momentarily at rest with one end at distance d = 1.50 m above the floor by exerting a force F on the beam, perpendicular to the beam. (a) What is the magnitude F? (b) What is the magnitude of the (net) force of the floor on the beam? (c) What is the minimum value the coefficient of static friction between beam and floor can have in order for the beam not to slip at this instant?
(The worker is lifting the beam from one end of it)
1 AnswerPhysics5 years agoDoes lack of sleep have an influence in weight loss?
I usually sleep like 4 hours a day since I was 14. I am 22 now and I seem to not gained any weight since then. I weight 120 pounds eventhough I have been working out for 6 years. I also don't eat alot. I want to gain some weight and I was wondering if lack of sleep can influence my goal to gain weight.
3 AnswersDiet & Fitness5 years agocareer advice, i have speech disability?
I am currently a mechanical engineering major. I am about to finish community college this year and I was doing pretty good until this past semester. i was making straight As and just a C, but this semester i got Bs only. But is not the grades i am worried about. I have a problem with my speech, i stutter, and i have noticed that even though i am halfway in getting my degree, i dont feel relief, i feel mostly scared of what is coming next. I am not talking about if i will get a job or keep making good grades, i am worried that i have to start taking classes that involve alot of communication with others. I had to drop out of high school because i had to to take speech. At that time i was scared of people laughing at me. i am 22 now and i dont care about people making fun of me, i am worried that if I cant communicate effectively, i will lose all faith in myself, and drop out of college. I want to take speech this coming semester. I was offered an online class for speech, since it is easier. however i think that wont help me at all. i want to test myself in speech class, to see if i can gain help. I do have faith in God that i will do good grade in class, but i dont have faith in myself because of the social consequences that might cause to drop from college. Do you think i should drop now and stop wasting money, or take the risk?

2 AnswersMathematics5 years agoHow does a car makes a turn on a curved road?
I know the basic physics, that the friction creates a centripetal force that points to the center of the circle. But I am still confused on why the friction points to the center? I am thinking that since the front wheels are the turning on the direction of the road, then the back wheels will still want to travel in a straight path, but since the car will move either right or left on a curve, the car will experience a centrifugal pointing in the outward direction of the circle. but I am not sure, help!!
