First time mommy trying to sleep?
My 10 week old son sleeps pretty well and generally only wakes up once at night to be fed. My husband stays up and does the before bed feeding anywhere between 10 and midnight. I go to bed early then get up with the baby when he gets hungry around 4 or 5am. My problem is that I wake to every tiny sound my son makes. I'm not talking cries, I mean the little coos and grunts and whatnot in his sleep. Sometimes I even wake up when he's just wiggling or stretching a bit. I really don't know what to do about this. We live with a relative and there's only one bedroom for hubby, baby and I. (Yes the baby has his own bed that he sleeps in) So what I'm wondering is, does this go away eventually? I'm only getting a few hours of solid sleep, the rest is waking up and trying to doze off again. Some days it's not so bad, but it builds up to the point that I'm desperate for a solid 8 hours. I'm lucky enough to have a husband to help and a baby that sleeps well, so how the heck do I get my body to cooperate?
2 AnswersNewborn & Baby8 years agoYour experiences with petite babies?
I'm just curious to hear from some other parents whose babies are or were naturally slender/petite. My 10 week old son is around 22 inches long and weighs between 8 and 9 pounds. (Hasn't been weighed since his shots 2 weeks ago but he has grown since then) He was 18.75 inches and 5 lbs 8 oz at birth. He's healthy and has a good layer of baby fat as well as great muscle development. His pediatrician says he's doing awesome. The only issue is that I get asked a lot if he was a preemie, and then dirty or confused looks when I say no. I try not to let it get to me, but it makes me feel self conscious as a mother. My little boy looks perfectly healthy really, but not super chubby like a lot of babies you see, which a lot of people equate with them being healthy. Any other parents struggling with this? Guess I'm just looking for some people who can relate. Being small runs in my husband's family so I know it's just how his body is and not anything I'm doing wrong. I just don't like the idea of people judging my son or thinking I don't take care of him. My son is the world to me and I would never do anything to harm him.
I should also mention he missed a week of normal weight gain due to having pyloric stenosis. He actually lost about a pound in just a few days. Otherwise he probably would be at least a little heavier.
4 AnswersNewborn & Baby8 years agoDry scalp on 10 week old?
My son is 10 weeks old and has not had too much trouble with dry skin, except on his scalp. His newborn hair is still rubbing off here and there, and there's a lot of dead skin. It's not red at all, and doesn't seem to be bothering him. Should I be doing something about it though? Lotion or baby oil or something? Like I said it's not irritating him but I don't want it to start to either. Is there something I should be doing or will it clear up on its own?
6 AnswersNewborn & Baby8 years agoNight feedings for 10 week old.?
I'm wanting some opinions from experienced parents. My son is 10 weeks old and his sleep is still a tad erratic. If he does wake up hungry at night its only once, and usually around 4am or so. He has a habit of waking up and just fussing a little then falling back to sleep. He does this a few times before actually crying to be fed. I don't get up with him until it's an actual cry, or if the fussing goes on more than his usual few seconds. My question is this: should I be picking him up the first time he fusses? We always feed him on demand, but he also needs to learn to sleep through the night. Obviously if he's not going back to sleep I get up and feed him, I never leave him awake and hungry. So what do you think? Is it ok to let him fall back to sleep even though I know he's getting hungry?
5 AnswersNewborn & Baby8 years agoWhat do you think of these baby names?
I am 9 weeks along and just having some fun with names since we don't know the gender yet. There are 2 boy names and 2 girl names we really like, so I just wanted to put them out there and see if you all like them, or think they're a bit too strange.
Daemon Daniel (Day-mon)- this is our favorite boy name. The spelling of the first name is from a series of books we like, kind of an obscure reference.
Roman Richard- I just like the name Roman, it's good and strong.
Kindle Elizabeth- No not the reading device lol. I though of this one as in like the poetic "kindle a flame" meaning.
Gaia Andrya (Guy-a)- this one is more in line with our spiritual beliefs. Also I just think it's pretty.
The middle names are set because they are after family and friends. Any ideas on alternate spellings or anything though? Be polite but please do let me know if any of them are just too weird.
3 AnswersBaby Names9 years agoWeirdest pregnancy symptom ever?
Ok so I'm 8 weeks 5 days right now and wondering if anyone else has had this feeling. For the past week I've been experiencing this odd sort of disconnect from my body, particularly with fine motor activities and chewing. It's hard to explain, but basically I have to concentrate a bit to get my hands to do simple things. Stuff like using my phone, clipping my nails, picking up small objects, or getting something out of my eye. Also when I put food in my mouth it's like I have to think a second to remember how to get started chewing. I called my doctor's office and the nurse told me not to worry, but it's so strange and uncomfortable! I'm just wondering if any of you mommies out there have had this happen while pregnant. I'm aware that anxiety can cause a disconnected feeling, but the descriptions I've read online are totally different from what I've been feeling.
