I am an elementary school teacher with training in early childhood education and development (ages birth through 8.) I am also the mother of boy/girl twins who were born in Decemeber 2009. I use cloth diapers, make (made) my own baby food, and teach my kids sign language and Spanish. I love to read, color (in coloring books!,) cook, organize, and decorate. I am just a beginner when it comes to cooking and decorating, but I love doing both! I have two dogs, a Jack Russell/Dachshund mix who is 4 years old, and a Pitbull who is 2 years old. They were my first children :) I live in West Virginia, right over the river from Maryland. I teach in Frederick County, MD. I grew up in the Washington DC area (Montgomery County) and still travel in that direction almost every weekend. My husband and I have been homeowners for 3 years, dog owners for 4 years, and parents for almost 2 years.
Am I having panic attacks while driving?
While driving on the interstate, I have become increasingly scared for the past month. I need to know if anyone has similar symptoms. I have an appointment with a primary care physician in two weeks, but would like some comfort now! When I get on the interstate, my heart starts to race, I get sweaty, and I start to feel a loss of control of my body. It physically feels like I'm not in my body. It used to just happen at night, but now it's allow the time. Also, I wouldn't call it dizziness, but it starts to feel like my eyes aren't seeing right. I have had my eyes checked and even gotten new glasses since this started. There's nothing substantial that would have triggered it either. I feel crazy asking this, but has anyone experienced something similar? Are these panic attacks or something more neurological that I should get checked out? It's starting to run my whole life!
13 AnswersMental Health10 years agoWhat do I do with my twin toddlers on an airplane?
They're sitting on our laps for 2 hours and 45 minutes. I wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't a trip to a wedding of an immediate family member. It is also way better than the alternative (driving for two days.) What have you had success with when it comes to toddlers (20 months) on airplanes? Especially if you're anxiety-prone, like me?
4 AnswersToddler & Preschooler10 years agoWhat do you use to STRIP your cloth diapers?
I use Bumgenius 3.0 pocket diapers. They are smelly and repelling liquid. My son is getting red when we use them on his bottom.
What do you use to strip your cloth diapers? Specifically, does anyone have Bumgenius diapers and a front-loading washer? If so, I could really use your advice! We've been shamefully using disposables for 3 weeks now!
4 AnswersNewborn & Baby10 years agoWhat window treatment situation would you suggest on two close windows?
I have three "standard" windows in my living room. I haven't measured them, I can't find my tape measure, but they are probably 3 feet wide by 4 feet tall. Two of them are close together (with maybe an inch or two between) and the other one is by itself, all on the same wall. What would you suggest I do about curtain panels and rods? I don't know if there's enough room on the two windows that are close to use two rods. Would it look funny with one LONG rod? If I did one long rod, should I use just two panels, one for each window, or four panels, two for each window? I was planning on doing two panels on the one window by itself. I am really not good at style and decor! We've had nothing but $2.99 blinds on our windows for 3 years!
