  • Looking for good spitzer boat tail for reloading 8mm?

I'm trying to find an FMJ spitzer in boat tail to reload for my 8mm mauser. My bore slugs out at .324 but the only spitzers I can find are in .323. Does anyone know of a source where I can find them in .324/.325? I currently use cast ammo and it works great but I want to get something going in FMJ.

  • How do I get my USB wireless to automatically activate on boot in Ubuntu?

I am running Ubuntu 10.10 and have one of those Edimax nano USB wireless cards installed. It works great, until I have to reboot. Once I reboot I have to unplug the USB wireless, plug it back in, then run modprobe to get it to activate again. If the lid is closed and the laptop goes into suspension I can open the lid up, hit the power button, and the wireless kicks in automatically and works. Anyone know what configuration file I can use or a script I can make to allow Ubuntu to just activate the card automatically on boot without having to do this over and over again?

  • Anyone know what the make and model of this bow is by looking at it?

Someone is selling this but doesn't have the make and model info available because it is not with him at the moment. Just says it has a 55lb pull and a drop away guide. I was looking for something to get as a beginner at archery and this guy is selling it for $75.

  • Can the firing pin spring for the M24/47 be adjusted or replaced?

Preferrably with a lighter spring? My M24/47's bolt is smooth after it's been c0cked but cocking it is pretty tough. I heard Wolff makes a replacement spring but hear it is supposed to be a tighter spring than the one that is already in there. Any suggestions for reducing the tension on cocking the bolt?

  • Need help with scope decision?

Russian POSP 8x42 with illuminated range finder reticle?

    or

Russian POSP 3-9x42 with illuminated Mil-Dot reticle?

I would get slightly better magnification with 3-9 but I was partial to the range finder style reticle.

It is being mounted to a modified Yugo mauser with a POSP style side rail.

  • So what would you pick and why?

Gimme your best SHTF weapon and why? I choose my 8mm Mauser for reliability and I can reload my ammo for it, what's yours? Feel free top debunk someone else's choice but make it good and truthful so it can let us all think outside the box. I'm really looking for good supportive arguments for a particular firearm and I'm intrigued to see how other gun owners think about their choices.

  • Need to find load data for 380 ACP?

I have 100 grain hard cast boolits and need to know if I can use the same load data for a powder that I have on my sheet that is recommended for 100 grain FMJ. The ones on my load sheet that is recommended for cast boolits is out of stock at my local shop and they seem to be having a hard time getting powders now. Got a bunch of IMR powder which would work for a 100 grain FMJ and would like to use that. Should I down charge the minimum IMR charge by a couple of grains?

  • What readily available case size can I use?

To press through a full-length resizing die to make cases for 7.62 x 39 or even 5.45 x 39? I don't need the lecture about why one would need to do this when you can go get a case of Wolf for $180 bucks I just want to start working with case resizing to further my own knowledge about ammo making.

Also anyone know of any negative repercussions for shooting gas checked hard cast boolits through an AK such as clogging the gas port? I already know about the NATO primer requirements with free floating firing pins so got that covered.

  • Do I need to gas check cast 45 ACP bullets?

I plan on starting to cast 45 ACP and I know that cast rifle rounds or magnum pistol rounds need to have gas checks but would a 45 ACP need them?

  • Can I use a bolt from a Yugo M48 in an M24/47?

I would like to get a bent bolt handle on my Yugo M24/47 Mauser so I can install a scope (non-scout mount) but unfortunately without bending it myself the M24/47s only have straight bolt handles. Suggestions?
