Twain sets Pudd'n Head Wilson (1894) in the U.S. antebellum period. The implication here is that, although slavery has been abolished, something about it persists in 1890s. What do you think Twain is saying about the impact of history on the present, particularly with regard to questions about race and freedom in the U.S.

1 AnswerHistory8 years agoa 0.01kg bullet is fired horizontally into a 2.50kg wooden block attached to the end of a mass less horizantal?
a 0.01kg bullet is fired horizontally into a 2.50kg wooden block attached to the end of a mass less horizantal spring, k= 845 N/m. the other end of the spting is fixed in placs, and the sptrig is unstrained intially. the block rests on a horizantal, frictionless surface. the bullet strikes the block perpendicularly and quickly comes to a halt within it. as a result of this completely inelastic collision, the spring is compressed along its axix and causes the block / bullet to oscillate with an amplitude of 0.200m. what is the speed of the bullet???
So far I did
KE of bullet and block system = Elastic energy of spring
1/2 mv^2 = 1/2 kx^2
(2.50 + .01)(v^2) = (845)(.200)^2
v^2 = 13.466
v = 3.670 m/s
conservation of momentum
mv = mv
(2.50 + .01)(3.670) = (.01)v
v = 921.075 m/s
but its inelastic so some energy will be lost but I don’t know how to finish the problem
