help re-train my puppy - behavior modification?
I have a very snuggly & loving 10 month old lab/hound/dane mix. He's a very sweet boy most of the time, well trained in the basics (except "heel") + is a wonderful cuddlebug. But he has some really bad habits that I can't seem to break.
1: I use a properly fitted prong collar to the best of my ability on walks. But most of the time, ESPECIALLY when its time to come inside, he'll wheel around, grab the leash & play tug. But he tugs w/all 75lbs so it's only fun for him. Then he'll bite his way up the leash till he gets to your hand & do his best to get to the rest, even if it means nipping me (or whomever is walking him). I've tried to correct this before he's able to grab the leash, but its futile. we walk pretty far plus he chases his ball a lot outside too, so it's not like he's got too much energy.
2: Sometimes when we're playing outside w/ him off leash, he's great. Fetches like a champ! Then sometimes he'd rather bite at the arm of our coats. Last week he ripped the coat off my teenager & promptly de-stuffed it. Of course he doesn't do this to my husband. He's much bigger & has a very deep voice. Sometimes he plays this way inside too when he's too excited. He's very mouthy. Then there's the incessant barking. At me, kids, or older dog. He's a brat. I've tried re-directing him, telling him NO in a deep voice, praising him for his good things, turning my back, it doesn't work. He's just too rough. I've had dogs all my life have never had one this rambunctious.

2 AnswersDogs6 years agoWhy do I have an HP Update program is my laptop is Toshiba?
My laptop is not quite 2 years old, but its been running a little slow lately. My norton is expired, so maybe I have a bug. I've restored it though, that seemed to help..
anyway, I went to check my programs to see if there was anything that shouldn't be there that I could uninstall, and i noticed at the bottom of the list, a program called "HP Update."
My laptop is a Toshiba... I do have an old HP printer, which is only connected when in use. Every now and then, I get a little notification pop up in the lower left corner of my desktop, telling me that there are HP updates available, but I never paid attention until today... (of course.. lol)...
any ideas? is it for the printer? that wouldn't make sense though? I did try to google it, but didn't find any answers....

4 AnswersDogs8 years agoThey butt dialed me and I heard them talking abou tme?
Last Thursday, I employed a company to do some work around my home. I Signed a contract agreeing to the total cost of the finished job, the job description, the 50% deposit (half of the total cost) and that the project would be complete within a week. In fairness, the company had spent 4 long days working at my house, outside, drilling holes in the frozen ground and other work. before starting the job, he created a shop drawing, which i approved. After he had finished drilling and laying one part, i called him later on saturday to tell him i did not like that it was in a straight line like the drawing had shown, and i wanted things moved. he stated that would be fine, and did not charge extra for the extra work. I called the owner 2 days ago stating that one of the pieces was not the correct size and when he came on monday, he took out his tape measure and proved me wrong.. i also asked him to return the material he had purchased per the contract and i requested a heavier, stronger material be used, knowing that i would be charged the difference. which he did without a problem.
the real problem i have is, he spent the day working on the project today at my house and we spoke on the phone. after we had spoken, he must have butt dialed me when i was unavailable because i heard an entire conversation between him and his associate on my voice mail. his associate bad mouthed me, insulted me and my property and just said some really horrible things in general.
after listening to this voice mail, i tried calling him, but got no answer. when my wife called and got through (he told her his phone didnt ring and there were no missed calls) and she explained what i told her. I then proceeded to write an message to the company through facebook stating that i was upset and wanted a FULL REFUND of all monies paid to date or i would report this to the BBB, attorney general, and news channel 8!!! even though half of the work was finished and it was not the owner who said anything, it was his associate. and they said it amongst themselves in the privacy of their car.
later on in the evening, we got a hold of each other, he did apologise profusely, stated that the associate had been repremmanded, and that he would come back alone and finish the job wo the other associate. i told him i did not want him back on my property and i wanted a full refund. he stated he would have to run some numbers because i was not entitled to a full refund as half of the work was done to satisfaction and the deposit may not have even covered the material cost due to my request to upgrade.
do i really have any kind of recourse such as i have stated above, or is it on me because i have now broken a contract based on what someone said about me behind my back?

8 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agogood wedding ettiquete?
i am not sure if i spelled ettiquete correctly - anyway, a very very good friend of mines little sister is getting married. Last year, i was of course, invited to my friends wedding, and i had her alterations for her gown done by a seamstress friend of mine. and her mother was so greatful because it saved them a lot of money. this year, he rlittle sister is getting married, whom i am not close with, but my friend, when planning the bridal shower, asked me if i knew someone at this place they wanted to have it - turns out, i had managed at this restaurant years ago and knew the banquet manager very well, and was able to get them a fantastic deal on the shower, and, am getting several of the bridesmaids gowns altered again for an awesome price - also, i stepped in during the bridal shower when some of the bridesmaids (his side that we dont like.. lol) just sat there, and kept the whole thing moving, doing what they should have been re: present opening, organization, set up and yadda yadda... so of course, everyone is incredibly greatful for the help i have given them over the last 2 years worth of weddings, and now, i am invited to the little sisters wedding.. while., yes, i believe it was good form to invite me, but my question is, should i go??? because i am only invited because if the help i was able to give her sister (my friend) and her family...

i got a REALLY bad and WAY too short hair cut about two months ago and a friend of mine with the same color hair gave me a long hair piece pony to wear till my hair grows back. since then, i have worn this thing every day. it was a curled, very nice, human hair piece. now, from combing and washing and wearing, its a frizzy fuzzy knotted mess... i have been told that using regular conditioner could weigh it down and make it frizz more.. how can i fix this thing back to the way it was origiobnally, especially for when i have to give it back? im sure it wasnt cheap.. i assume a salon can do it too, right?

1 AnswerHair1 decade agowhat would you do if an ex started emailing your fiance?
my fiance had an ex gf from over 10 years ago... they were only together for a year, they had some problems of course like all couples, but from what i understand, she got pg and when she decided to abort the baby, he left her... she then moved back to brasil, and from what i know had herself a boyfriend there for a number of years who recently died of cancer... he moved on, got married, had 2 children... after 6 years, he and his wife divorced and they have shared 50/50 custody of his daughters.. he and i have been together for 3 years, and just recently, he opened a welding shop that was his dream his entire life... i am helping him like any good woman would (i did not have to give up anything to be here and help, just for the record. i am a fitness instructor and all my classes are at night, so while he keeps his 2nd job during the day, i come to the shop and do marketing and the office work and then he comes in and i go to teach my class). we each have each others passwords for all accounts, email, paypal, facebook, everything... i find these emails from her dredging up the past, which apparently she did to him during his marriage too, and would then forward the messages to his wife and blah blah... anyway, so i find these messages where she's all, "come to brasil and marry me and take me home.. we were meant to be.." and he's of course flattered but i told him when i found them that this was wrong and i didnt like it (not in so many words) and he immediately deleted and blocked her form his account, which i found very admireable... but i really really wanna send some hate mail to her... my mom says no, and he asked me not to, but i really want her to get the f-ing picture!!!! what would you do?

ok, dont get me wrong, i know men look at women... i know women look at other men... thats all well and good... i understand the whole fantasy thing.. but my man tends to tell me everything... every time he sees a beautiful woman on tv, he'll tell me if he thinks she's hott.. maybe not in so many words, but you get my point... we've been together for 2.5 years... i tell him that it bothers me when he points out other women because women in general are very critical of ourselves... like, he'll mention something, and i'll be like, "oh she has bigger boobs than me, or prettier hair, or a nicer butt.." or whatever... makes me feel like he wishes i was more like them... this is probably not the case, but my point is, i have repeatedly told him it bothers me... i dont mention every guy or celebrity i think is hott... what purpose does it serve? he knows he looks nothing like Gerard Butler, so why would i want him to feel badly, like he doesnt compare?... and sometimes when we're out, just joking around, because i look very very young for my age, he'll play around and call me his sister in public... no its not really funny, and i just call him an idiot, but it kinda makes me feel like he's not proud enough to call me his gf... this has only happened a small hanfull of times... and tonight, he did it again, mentioned something about the women he sees on tv, and i tell him that i cant believe after this long, after how many times i tell him it bothers me, that he still does it!!! and i told him it bother me when he plays around like im his sister.... he gets pissed off and goes to bed... am i wrong? i mean he's 38 years old, he has 2 kids from his previous marriage (we're both divorced) dont you think he would understand, or at least try to understand?
