  • what are my best options for long term savings?

Usual problem, cashed in my endowment and now have 15 years on the capital. The amount is 38,000 and I have 15 years to get the money together. I am planning to save 200 per month for the 1st 5 years, then increase the amount to 400. I know I will easily be able to clear the amount at the end of term, but my confusion is - where do I save the money. I was thinking of ISA's but I'm not sure, I've also heard about bonds but I don't really know how they work. I thought I would throw the question out to the forum before I start going round the banks and building society's. How many ISA's can someone have, as some have limits and can you move money around from one bank to another??

  • scrappage scheme and car dealership - a little advice please?

I was considering scrapping my old vectra and buying a new car. the dealership have seemed reluctant to do the deal. I'm not sure why. I've put a small deposit on the new car and had to change some details on my V5 and that stopped the deal going ahead. I now have the V5 back and now have to wait for the new tax disc on my old car so they can photocopy it. No problems there. The problem I do have is they wont propose me to the finance house, they keep telling me the guy is away, they need the V5, they need the tax disc. All of these things are nothing to do with the finance house. Now they have told me to wait until sept to get a 10 reg. The car i want is in stock (still with a for sale sign on despite the fact that i have given them a deposit) so i dont see why they are asking me to wait until sept. They then tell me there is only one person who can propose me to the finance house and he is out and that he has to see me face to face to fill in the forms, then they give me his number and tell me he'll do it over the phone. I am a little concerned about giving this dealer my business but the car i want is sold there and the next dealership that sells Fiat is 70 miles away. Any ideas why they are being so cagey about selling me this car ??? any ideas gratefully received and if anyone reading this is from a car dealership they might know whats going on because i sure as hell don't.

  • Off to the Gym, any tips ?

Wish me luck I'm off to they gym come tuesday. I gave up smoking one year ago and now i really want to loose the weight. I put on half a stone when i stopped smoking, but you add that to the one and a half i want to loose and i'm looking at 2 stone to get rid of. I'm planning 30-45 mins cardio and then 15 mins of weights combined with a sensible diet. I'm on beta-blockers that slow down my heart rate that's the reason for the heavy cardio. Do you have any tips for a gym plan that will help me and any experience of exercise for weight loss that you can pass on? Any tips or ideas are really appreciated. Cheers Guys

  • Bank Reconciliations - A little help please?

I am helping a company to enter Opening Balances onto a new Sage program and set the program up for day to day accounts and VAT. The problem is they have never done a bank rec. I have the bank statements and I have asked them to start using a cash book for everyday banking and receipts. I have the bank balance for August 1st and they are entering and checking all receipts and cheques for August onwards and recording them in the cashbook. How do I get the Opening balance to enter into sage for August. I'm thinking August 1st balance - any receipts + purchase cheques and D/D that appear in the August period and using that for O/Balance - does this sound right??? Any help would really be appreciated - thanks guys.

  • Changes to paypal ? whats going on.?

I have made 2 purchases on ebay recently and usually when i pay via pay-pal the payment goes through straight away. The 2 payments i have just made are now going to take a week. Is this just my pay-pal or has anyone else found this. I have recently changed my details by taking my credit card off pay-pal after it was used fraudulently, so is this causing a problem? I still have my bank account registered and funds are available. Any thoughts guys ?

  • Heat rash ?? anyone got rid of it ??

I have had heat rash on my arms since May. I used cortisone cream for about 5 weeks on the doctors advice and no change. One of my workmates suggested a uv light and it cleared up after 3 days use (15 mins in total) Now the rash has come back (about 2 weeks ago) and I really dont want to use the uv lamp again. I'm naturally dark skinned and I am aware of the dangers of uv lamps. So far I have used cortisone, baby lotion, calamine lotion. All no go.I dont use perfumed body wash and I dont use perfumed body lotion. The rash is still really bad. I only get the rash where the sun hits the skin, so I use a very high baby sunlotion and keep my arms covered. Does anyone have any ideas?? My doctor wants me to see a dermatologist, but this is gonna take about 2 months for the appointment to come through and I dont think I can take this for much longer, My arms are so sore. When I was on holiday last year the only way I could get rid of it was oral steriods and I dont like the idea of having to take oral steriods every summer. Any advice would really be welcome xx

  • egg donation and menopause? any doctors out there???

Do you know if there is a link between early menopause and egg donation. I donated eggs twice and never regretted it, but I have heard that menopause happens when you run out of eggs. Do we only have a set amount of eggs through our child bearing years or is the amount of eggs linked to hormone production?? IE born with for example 10,000 eggs so menopause will be at such and such a time BUT I have given away - lets say 50 - so have I bought forward my menopause by giving these 50 away. Just curious and all sensible answers most welcome.
