I am in my late 50's and have always liked books and philosophy. I also know a lot about cleaning and building maintenance. For fun I like fishing, gardening, guitar, and doing things with my wife and kids.
What do you consider the most beautifully written philosophical works?
It always struck me that many philosophers are great thinkers, but really struggle when it comes to writing. The writing styles of Spinoza or Heidegger, for example, are hardly beautiful. Aristotle and Socrates apparently never wrote anything at all. Wittgenstein finished only one book. Don't get me wrong, all these philosophers had beautiful thoughts. Are there philosophers who not only had beautiful thoughts but also wrote beautifully? Please limit your answers to real philosophers. I know Shakespeare wrote beautifully and had philosophical thoughts, but he never claimed to be a philosopher.
