I am a professor emeritus (retired) from a major southern university. My degrees are: A.A. in science, B.S. in Earth science/chemistry, M.S. in Earth Science/geochemistry, Ph.D in Earth Sciences/biological oceanography. My research area is in palynology (fossil pollen and spores) and meteoritics (study of meteorites) I use data from the petrology and petrography of stony meteorites to learn more about the early solar system. I serve as an executive board member of an international society devoted to the dissemination of knowledge about the planets and our own polar areas. I led a group of students to the Antarctic in 1993/4 in search of meteorites and was the first one to teach undergraduate college courses on the continent. I have worked frequently with astronauts, of which several were moonwalkers. In the past, I taught graduate and undergraduate college courses in geology, paleontology, historical geology, atmospheric science, oceanography and astronomy.
