Thoughts on homophobia?
I was recently incensed to read a response from 'kent j' to another question, where he claimed homosexuality was an aberration and morally wrong.
Here's a link ....

His is the first response, I respond to the original question later, and at the end I added a retort to 'kent j'.
Personally I feel there's no place for homophobia in our society, it's here, there's nothing wrong with it, get over it.
I'm a straight man, but have many gay friends all of whom are lovely people.
Simply put, the ignorance in relation to this issue astounds me.
In my experience I've found the most homophobic people are actually hugely repressed people full of self loathing, who often have some issues with their own sexuality that they can't reconcile themselves with, and vent their self hatred on others.
I say we stamp out homophobia, not homosexuality!

13 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender1 decade agoSurround sound speakers for room corners?
Not sure if I can explain this how I want to, let me try.
We're buying a new house and I'm going to get the builders to wire in cables for surround sound. They offer a package with speakers which are set flush into the wall, but they look terrible and I'd rather have some control over the quality of speaker I buy.
I've heard it said that the speakers should be positioned at more or less head height, for when you're viewing the screen sitting down - so the sound is project on the same level as your ears.
My questions is in two parts really:
1. Would it work if I put speakers up in the corners of the room near the ceiling, then angled down into the room slightly ... i.e. so the sound is projected towards a central point on the wall opposite the TV, where I'll be sitting on my sofa?
2. Are there any speakers which are designed to fit in an upper corner like that? I'd imagine the back would be somewhat triangular, and perhaps the front would be more spherical?
4 AnswersHome Theater1 decade agoCan I switch off someone else's electricity supply in the UK?
I live in a block of flats with a very inconsiderate neighbour above me. He is prone to playing loud music at anti-social hours and it is often difficult to get the Police or environmental response team to respond - especially at a weekend when they are busy.
I've discovered where the main fuse box is for our block, and imagine that to disconnect supply to a particular flat would be a simple matter of pulling a plug/fuse.
Aside from the obvious dangers, and the moral issues, does anyone know the legal implications of such a move? I imagine it's a grey area, but wondered if there was a specific offence of tampering with an electricity supply?
If not then I'm going to shut the selfish muppet down next time he comes in at 4am and decides it's a great time for a rave.
