  • What are the chances of New Mexico State University basketball moving up to the Mountain West Conference?

Starting 21-2 under their new head coach, the Aggies have only lost to Mountain West opponents. Once to UNM, which was later avenged, and once to Colorado State University by only 3 (both road losses) The MWC also includes former WAC schools Boise State, Utah State and Nevada, and NMSU rivals from the old Big West Conference Fresno State and San Jose State. The MWC would be a perfect fit for NM State, what are the chances this season could lead to this?

  • Can not log in to Skype on my Android phone?

I was asked to verify my account, which included changing my hotmail password (using my hotmail account as my skype login) I did so on my PC and it works fine now, however on my phone, I give it my email, and instead of asking for the new password, it goes to a blank white screen and stays there. It doesn't lock up, I can push the back button and it goes back to the login screen. I tried clearing the cache, same result, I uninstalled the app and downloaded it over again, same result.

  • Have an HP 2000 - 2c29WM. Need 32-bit wifi antenna driver (shows 'network connector' in device manager) for Vista, don't know make/model?

Originally came with Windows 7 but no install disk OR product key. If I'm not mistaken a 32-bit win 7 driver should work on 32 bit vista? seems difficult to find so far. The HP autoinstaller for the ethernet port worked perfectly, the one for the WLAN failed to even run at all beyond the initial setup program (which it keeps trying to run each time)

  • What treatment was used for breast cancer treatment before tamoxifen?

A friend of mine recently had a lumpectomy due to stage 1 IDC breast cancer, and successfully beat it. She was placed on tamoxifen prior to radiation treatments, and was told to maintain taking it for 5 years to lessen recurrence by a whopping 3% The side effects as well as the actual process it is designed to put her body through were beyond unacceptable. I would like to know what sort of counterpart existed for post-op/post-radiation breast cancer treatment before this drug was on the market? Basically, what did they use before tamoxifen existed?

If you know the rate of recurrence for the previously used treatments that would be helpful as well.

  • Arizona statute of limitations on DUI once charged?

I will not mention the specifics, and please do not spam or flame this with replies, this is simply a legal question. The only illegal act was a blood alcohol level of over .08

Once an individual is actually charged with simple 1st DUI (misdemeaner) in Arizona, if that person is never sentanced, what is the statute of limitations regarding that? (if there even is one) This individual was charged with it the very same night. No plea has been entered, no sentance has been handed down.

Is there a statute of limitations regarding this in the state of Arizona? and if so, how long is it?

  • Where is my Windows 8 Product key? (HP Laptop)?

I bought an HP2000 laptop, came with windows 8 preinstalled, and no disk. it also seems to have come with no friggin product key for it, because i can apparantly get the win8 setup program from their website, but i can't find the product key to type in. i want a fresh install because all the crap that came with it is making this thing run horribly. it freezes when i so much as try to drag a file.

i don't want to have to start popping panels off of it, though my last laptop thats exactly where they hid the stupid key.

  • Intel 945 external monitor will not work unless in vista safe mode?

ok i've tried a bazillion things here, including even changing things in the registry (nativeresolution enabled, etc)

have an acer aspire 3680, laptop screen is gone, but works with an external monitor. now i don't know what planets aligned to get the last old monitor to work, but it burnt out, and now i'm back to the same issue with this one. in the registry i saw 1280x800 and changed that to 1024x768 75hz, which is supported by this monitor here (12xx is not)

going into display options does NOT fix the issue, changing the screen resolution through the control panel during safe mode.

i can avoid safe mode by disabling the 945 chipset, cept 2 problems

1, i can't access or even find this stupid seperate intel display program (accelerators)

2, my directx is basically gone (no direct3d do not pass go)

i have since deleted the accelerator program (only friggin way i could find it) and reinstalled it. it seems to have put me back to square one, same issue. i'm going to try disabling the chipset and setting the resolution outside safe mode, although that didn't exactly seem to work last time, i tried the lowest possible setting and went from there and it still didn't work. off the top of my head i think the program was igfxcui but honestly i can't even find that now.

this is such a stupid problem to have, i hear the vista tone to ask for my password, i can type it in blind and windows will load. EVERYTHING works fine except the display here.

  • enable program during safe mode?

okay i'm tired of search engines jerking me around.

main issue here, no display. all other functions good. display works fine until screen mode change after 'copyright microsoft' loadscreen right before win vista login. tone sounds, i can type in the password blind, but blind i stay.

i've been using a laptop with an external monitor. the intel display setup program apparantly overrides even the control panel itself. fine and good, but i can't access it in safe mode (it doesn't even exist) safe mode is the only way i can even get this damn thing to display.

i've had this happen before, had to use an external monitor (which crapped and got another and back to square one again) i don't even remember how i changed it.

going into display options, by desktop right click or by the control panel, neither one work in vista safe mode. the only way i know this thing will behave is by accessing this intel accelerator graphics controller (acer aspire 3680 laptop, running external monitor) only problem is that in safe mode this program 'doesn't exist' can't access or find it through windows or c: prompt. so my best guess is to go into the registry and tell safe mode to stfu and let me run this god damned thing. this is such a stupid problem to have, considering it works in every situation except for the instance which takes up 99% of the time i use this thing. and the mother of it all, was that the settings before using this monitor were already set up for an external, outside of safe mode, normal mode, no problem, 1024x768, all gravy. it burnt out (and was twice as old as this newer monitor, again a tube desktop monitor not a laptop lcd, not a flatscreen, a good old fashioned MONITOR) it's an identical problem i had with the last one, and i have no clue why it would turn around and react the same way after i had finally gotten this friggin thing to work with the last one.

phew ok i think that's about the sum of it. i honestly do not remember what kind of hokey pokey voodoo dance i did to get the last one working, but when my lcd (original laptop screen) was dying, accessing this intel controller was critical, i honestly don't remember if my last successful setup even involved using it.

i guess besides all this, a 2nd question would be where in vista safe mode (besides personalize>>display settings) can any screen resolutions be accessed?

  • laptop with external monitor will not display without safe mode?

have a laptop and the screen is fragged, need to use an external monitor, but screen goes blank when vista asks for password. it will display in safe mode, but not in normal mode. was able to modify sound services in registry to enable audio but safe mode shuts out too much. just want it to work with the monitor in normal mode. the laptop screen backlight was burnt out, then ribbon ripped, and then smashed while in a bag in a greyhound bus ride, so plz don't post how to get the laptop's original screen working. external monitor goes black @ vista password login, but displays in safe mode. want display in normal mode plz, and ty in advance

  • Vista Safe Mode, No Audio, Display Issue?

I'm using an external monitor on a laptop. It will display the resolution, even through the boot and during the 'microsoft corporation' and phony 'progress bar' in vista. before it gets to the password screen, it goes blank and won't display anything.

I reboot in safe mode, and no sweat. even the display adapter works for 1024x 32bit, networking no problem. I'd be happy with this, but no sound now. tried starting the service up, and 'safe mode' won't let it.

I don't see why internet access including downloads is 'safe' and being able to hear a friggin beep from the internal speakers is not 'safe' but w/e lol. Is there any way in vista home basic to enable the sound in safe mode?

getting back to normal mode would be cool, but for right now i'm just glad this damn thing works. you should see what greyhound did to the LCD screen.

  • TMD treatment/clarification for joint issue NOT muscular (diagnosed TMD, NOT TMJ)?

my gf has had repeated jaw dislocation (slight) and after finally seeing one doctor, who referred her to a dentist after, she was diagnosed with TMD, and was specifically told it was commonly mis-diagnosed as TMJ.

Her issue is joint related, not muscular, and while in either case stress is a main factor (we've understood this), finding any specific information online has been a royal pain. Alot of places refer to both as the same thing, etc.

She's been told she has to wear a splint at night, then after a bit of research i came to find out that a splint is for 24/7 usage (not to mention they want to charge her 3000$ for both the upper and lower pieces)

Stress has played a major role, namely grinding her teeth at night and waking up with yet another dislocation, and pain. The tendon itself has slipped outside the socket(?) and is positioned in front, instead of between the bones.

my knowledge is obviously limited, but this sounds as if it's something that could be corrected back into place with physical therapy (btw the reccomendation she got was physical therapy THEN the 3000$ splints, that she was told were only for sleeping with. and it's bad enough her insurance covers neither)

Even if there isn't a 'silver bullet' answer here, at the very least i would love to be pointed in the right direction for information online to THIS specific condition, not a confusion over the two considering there was mention of J being misdiagnosed when it's D in her case (and it is in fact her joint)

she was in an extreme amount of pain prior to, and during the exam so she will be contacting the doctors for more options she may have not paid attention to, (she was almost panic stricken when a dentist was involved) But any concrete information would be extremely helpful. I've typically been good at hunting down info online, but these two obviously different diagnoses/treatment options, have at every turn been muddled together on any website i can find.

again, it is a painful jaw dislocation, pops in and out, and it is joint related not muscular, the tendon on one side is out in front of the jawbone instead of in between the two bones. any help or point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated, and tyvm in advance

  • Looking for a free flash "compiler"?

I would like to start working on publishing and posting my own flash games, but the only program I know of is adobe's which costs money to be able to use it.

I don't need bells/whistles, honestly I can learn to hand-write the code myself without breaking a sweat. I only need a program to compile("publish"...?) to generate the finished result that can be posted online or even submitted to a gaming website.

A design environment isn't important, such as visual c++ for example. I honestly only need notepad and the borland tools for that (well, that along with a much better knowledge of threads/processes and windows programming lol)

Just a simple compiler (if that's the term for a flash "maker") is all I really need, and search engines have been less than helpful. Anyone who could point me in the right direction, your help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to know what music I can make a youtube vid with?

What's the best way to find out whether or not a song is safe to use in a youtube video, without the risk of it being yanked for copyright issues? A website that lists artists/songs would be great, but I'd rather not have to sort through 200 different music company websites, etc. I'm sure i'ts a blanket internet usage law, so I'm also sure it doesn't just apply to youtube. But youtube in particular, you yourself are not making any money off of it so again, even more ground to cover. If anyone knows an easier way to determine what bands/songs are safe to use I'm all ears lol

  • Uses of dual dialogue format in a screenplay?

I've seen several different ways, but I was wondering if there was an accepted way to use dual dialogue for conversations, not just talking simultaneously. A lot of dialogue going back and forth between the same two characters eats up a lot of space putting the cues and spacing repeatedly.

    Such as: (not using margins)

    STEVE

    Hey man, where's your car?

    BOB

I ran out of gas a mile back.

    STEVE

So you walked the whole way?

    BOB

Yeah, my feet are killing me.

Is there an accepted method of using dual dialogue format for a continuing conversation?

  • Car Trouble... and no clue just what the engine is doing (or not doing)?

Okay, this issue has really confused me. Two days ago, my car's engine had a sudden rattling sound in the engine. (sounded cool when I revved it, but I knew something wasn't right) I didn't do much driving the first day, but I did doublecheck, and the noise occurred when the transmission was in drive, and also when it was in neutral. The second day, it seemed it was doing the same, and while I was already planning on adding a quart of oil, the oil light came on. I added a quart of oil (along with some much needed power steering fluid) and the noise was just as bad. It actually sounded worse as I continued on to my next errand, and then after it sat with the engine off for those 5 minutes, it returned to the first rattling ('growling') sound. I continued back home, only to have it lag on me after accelerating from a red light. The transmission refused to engage. It found itself in gear once or twice, but the engine mostly just revved without going into gear. After 5-10 seconds from that red light, the engine died. I put it into neutral (this is an automatic transmission) and when I tried to restart it, the starter did absolutely nothing. The lights dimmed on the dashboard when I turned the key, but the starter would not even so much as try.

After trying to jumpstart it, I found that my battery had plenty of charge (clacking the other ends of the jumper cables together, I got plenty of spark. I know that's not good for it, but that is peanuts compared to what went wrong lol)

I ruled out the transmission, because when the first noise occurred, it happened in both drive and in neutral. I ruled out the starter, because the issues weren't with starting the engine, they occurred while it was running. I ruled out the battery/alternator, because the battery has a good charge to it, despite all the other issues. And I ruled out a lack of oil, because even after adding a 2nd quart before heading home, the noise not only remained, but I have checked the oil level recently, and there is no apparant major leak (and no new oil stains on the ground where I park it either)

Could this be the computer going out? Or maybe something with the fuel pump? Some sort of electrical relay is refusing to let the starter crank over when I turn the key as a result of this, but I have little more than a basic knowledge of cars.

If someone can make heads or tails of it, I'd greatly appreciate it, before I have to waste money I can ill afford to blow on playing "whack a mole" with my only form of transportation lol.

This is a 2001 dodge stratus, 2.7L v6 for the additional info. Since the noise first occurred, the vehicle had spent a total of less than 10 minutes actually running before it died (when adding up the two days together)

  • Best forum to suggest a govt policy?

I had an idea (I'm sure others have thought this up as well) but I was wondering where the best 'suggestion box' would be to propose this.

Lately, myself (as well as friends/family) have had to 'sit on our butts' as a result of govt offices and services being closed due to the holidays. We all deal with this every weekend of every week all year long. In the information age, (the 24/7/365 world we live in now), problems the american people face don't occur between the hours of 9am and 5pm, only during Monday thru Friday.

I would like to propose that tax-funded government offices and services be open and provided 365 days a year. Not only would it streamline beauracracy, but would also create jobs (for those willing to work those days)

Now I'm not talking about applying this to the private sector, nor am I talking about forcing existing employees to work on sundays (or saturdays) or holidays. Just simply opening up new job opportunities, and at the same time, providing all government services to the public on a '365' basis.

I have no doubt, in these times, that several others like myself would take no issue with working on sundays and holidays. Your own situation dictating, work is work. Homeland security doesn't take a day off, and neither should the economy.

I would love nothing more than to find a good forum or avenue to propose this to the federal government (a legitimate one, not some blog or online '***** session') where someone who can actually make a difference is willing to listen. I will forward this same proposal to my state's senators (as well as the office of my still current governer Bill Richardson, who is about to move up to a cabinet position)

Any concrete avenues of approach would be extremely helpful, as I think this is a valid concept, deserving of the attention of federal level public servents.

  • First censored game on ESPN?

Someone told me a few months back, that the first ever tape-delayed game on ESPN, (tape delayed to censor a crowd who was too rowdy), was at a New Mexico State University home basketball game, at the Pan Am Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Is this true? And if they weren't the first, maybe one of the first?

(at an ESPN-telivised NMSU football game, with less than half the stadium filled, they had to extend a commercial break to issue a warning to the fans lol)

  • Could a spacecraft re-enter the earth safely just by matching the Earth's rotation?

I've always wondered if a space vehicle could attempt to match the rotation of the earth, and try to "ride" the atmosphere in, as opposed to crashing through it, requiring the extra heat shielding?

I'm sure there is a good reason they don't, but I've always been curious about it...

  • Should the Phoenix Suns sign Avery Johnson?

Should Phoenix go after Avery Johnson as the new head coach? Dallas played a somewhat fast paced style, but with a hell of alot better defense. I know Kerr wants a regular slow-paced offense, but if the suns abandon the run-and-gun altogether I'm gonna puke lol.
