  • proper etiquette regarding funeral processions?

On a busy interstate, is it okay if cars pass a funeral procession or should one wait for them to get off at whatever exit they are going to?

  • I have some questions for a friend struggling with infertility.?

She has been trying a year and a half. She finally went and saw a fertility specialist. He did a basic anatomical u/s. He could only find one ovary, but he told her the other was probably hidden by other organs. Anyway, she's been on clomid for 8 months. She didn't ovulate on the highest dosage. She didn't ovulate with the highest dosage even when they added metformin.

When they check her hormone levels to see if she's ovulated, her progesterone is at a 1.5. The doctor told her it needed to be an 8 (I think) for her to have ovulated.

She is tired of seeing this fertility specialist. And thinks she's being jerked around basically. She isn't sure what to do next.

Aren't there other tests and things the doctor could/should be doing? It would appear that after 8 months of clomid, there is obviously something wrong somewhere. She doesn't feel like clomid is going to cut it. But apparently, if it doesn't work this month, they want her to try again with clomid and another drug.

Does anyone out there have any clue what she should be asking her doctor? Or what her options are? A different doctor? Should she ask for further testing? He told her he thinks the clomid would do the trick. They aren't on the same page obviously.

I feel so badly for her. And I am not sure what to say to her because she's having these issues. She wants a baby so badly. And at this point, she's told me that she will not consider ivf. And if she's going to not get pregnant, she'd like to know now, so she and her hubby can plan for adoption.

I know ithis is long and rambling, but if anyone has had issues with ovulation and infertility, it would be helpful if you could talk to me a bit. Even if I can't tell her it will be okay, I'd like to at least be able to talk to her about it. (when she mentions it, and is ready)

  • My friend's German Shepherd not getting pregnant?

Ok, I'd say the dog is about 2 and a half years old by now. This is the second time they've tried to mate her with their friend's german shepherd. Both times haven't worked. Does that happen often where you have to put the dogs together two or three times to actually achieve pregnancy?

  • What would you do? Stay at home, or go to work?

My hubby got some hours cut at his job. So now he makes 6,000 less a year. He wants me to go back to work full time. I do not. Let me preface this by saying, I don't mind working part time.

We have two kids 3 years and 9 months old

The cost of day care would be around 1,000 dollars a month

When I graduated college I could have gotten a job making 35-40 grand a year. And it would have made sense for me to return to work and actually keep some money in my pocket. Now, since I haven't been in the work force in 4 years, I'd be lucky to get a job making 9 dollars an hour.

Now with two kids, I am really finding it somewhat silly and stupid to work full time for 9 dollars an hour. By the time I paid for day care I'd literally be making only 100 bucks a week.

I cant' leave my children for fricking 100 dollars a week.

I could work part time for 15-20 hours and make that much. And wouldn't have to worry about child care as much.

But he thinks it makes sense to do this

I don't. This is pretty much the one argument we have. What would you do?

I know he's just upset because he makes less money and is disappointed that he can't provide as much as he used to.

However, I don't think I'll be able to work full time and be the parent I need to be. Again, I don't mind working part time. I am actually interested in doing so. I just have no desire to throw away over half a paycheck on childcare.

We keep arguing about this.I am at my wit's end as is he. Suggestions anyone?

  • How do you do your homemade marinara?

I take some canned tomatoes of course

It all depends on how much I feel like making

I make tons of sauce for not that much pasta

So 2 28 oz. cans of petite diced tomatoes

1 can tomato paste (not that traditional maybe, but that's how I do it)

    1 chopped onion

    3 massive cloves of garlic

some nice oregano (be careful with that spice, it can be overpowering)

And some nice chopped basil at the end

I've also added in some fennel seeds. Adds an interesting flavor. I also like to add in some chili flakes for a decidedly arrabiata type sauce

I saute the onion, then add in the garlic. Then the tomatoes

    Simmer for hours

Then I add the spices at the end

    So what do you do

  • Need a recipe for Amish friendship bread using soy milk?

My sister can't consume dairy. And would really like to be able to make the Amish friendship bread. I am not sure if I could just substitute the soy milk for regular milk in the recipe or it would need to be changed. Any ideas?

  • Does anyone sell life insurance?

I applied for life insurance. But discovered I had an abnormal pap smear. They told me when I had a normal one again, I'd be able to get approved finally. I just got my repeat pap smear. While it wasn't considered abnormal, there were still a few cells that were slightly different. (the exact words of the nurse who called me back). I am assuming, unfortunately, that I will not be approved until I get a pap smear that says completely normal. Anyone have any experience with this?
