I adopted a stray Brittany spaniel mix, about 6 months old, a few months ago. She is spayed but remains very hyper. I know some of this is still "puppy" but it does not seem to be improving despite ongoing training.She goes to doggie day care while I am at work (and reportedly wears all the dogs out), has a fenced in yard to run in, gets walked, and has toys all over to play with. She still bounces off the walls, sometimes literally. I have tried crating her but weeks of effort still meet with whining & resistance. I have two cats, both about 5 yrs old, in the house and I would like to integrate everyone since the cats are getting the short end of the stick while I attend to the hyper dog. I worry about her hurting them though in her eagerness to play. Because crating has been difficult, I have gated off the upstairs so the cats are safe but seem no closer to getting everyone to get along. Any advice on how to integrate the menagerie and/or wait out Sarah's hyperactivity?
