  • Games that take place in NYC?

Does anyone know of any recent, 3D, free-roaming games that take place in a full-sized New York City (just Manhattan is acceptable)? I know there are games like Prototype that have scaled-down NYC maps, then games like GTA IV and inFamous that take place in cities based on a scaled-down NYC, but I'm looking for something that captures the sheer size of New York. Any suggestions?

  • Magic the Gathering (Blue) help?

I'm looking for a blue sorcery card (or cheap creature), low mana-cost, that will allow me to look through my library for a specific card to put either in my hand or on the battlefield. Ideas?

  • World Trade Center Site?

It occurred to me today that I have no idea what the current plans for reconstruction on the WTC site are. I know that a series of memorial plans have come and gone, as well as several attempts to rebuild the actual towers, but I haven't heard anything recently. Does anyone know what the current plans are, and what their status is?

A credible source would be nice.

I need to know the name of a certain Andy Wyeth painting - it depicts an old man lying on a hill in a pile of what looks like either snow or white sand. Help?

  • Biggest concert in history?

We all know that the first Woodstock is undoubtedly the most remembered show ever and has the most profound legacy today, but it wasn't the biggest concert in terms of crowd attendance. Does anyone know what *was*?

  • Theories on a warp drive? (For those who are actually knowledgeable on the subject)?

I'm working on a science-fiction project, and I'm trying to keep it as consistent with our current understanding of things as is possible. I'm currently trying to work out how exactly a warp drive could (theoretically, of course) be built. I know how the physics behind it work, but I'm unaware of any theories as to how exactley the physical device to do it could be created.

The drive would be based on Alcubierre's theories, and would work similiarly to those found in Star Trek (expanding space behind a vessel, contracting it in front), as I believe that method to be the most theoretically plausible given our current knowledge.

So what I need to know is, are there any theories as to how the physical drive itself could be built? What might it look like? How might it manipulate gravity or electro-magnetism to work? Any answers or links would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not looking for people claiming to know it's impossible, links to generic wiki articles, or explanations to the physics of such a device. I want to know current theories on how the DEVICE ITSELF could be built.

  • How many Final Fantasy games are there?

I want to know - counting all of the numbered games, all of the re-makes, all of the sequels, prequels, and spin-offs, just how many of these games have actually been made? I know it's some completely ridiculous number, but I want to know just how ridiculous.

  • Magic the Gathering help...?

I'm looking into building an all-blue deck. The base tactic behind this deck is, through a combination of counter spells and high-defense creatures, to hold off long enough to summon a few very high-power blue creatures (such as Lorthos, the Tidemaker) and then hit my opponent with everything at once.

Part of this tactic involves me gaining additional life, but so far I'm unaware of many blue cards that do this. Are there any blue spells or creatures that are good for gaining large ammounts of life for the player that controls them (lifelink or otherwise)?

Also, are there any blue creatures that can gain large ammounts of power and toughness in a hurry (like Scute Mob, for example)?

Any other tips from long-time Magic players (especially those who use blue decks) would be appreciated.

  • "Ladies' Night" sexist?

Can somebody please explain to me how "Ladies Night" is NOT sexist? Everywhere I turn someone tells me that it's a "legitimate business practice." So because some bar owner is pocketing money, that makes it okay to discriminate against one gender? By that logic, slavery in the US was a completely legitimate business practice. After all, some plantation owner was pocketing money, so that made it okay to discriminate against one race. The point being, it doesn't matter what the justification behind it is, it's STILL discrimination, and it is STILL immoral.

    What say you?

  • Any non-sexist insurance companies?

Can someone point me in the direction of some insurance companies that do not blatantly discriminate based on gender? I refuse to believe they don't exist, and I REFUSE to be in ANY way affiliated with a company which condones such evil, immoral practices as sexism. I'm specifically looking at auto insurance, though any sort of general insurance company works.

Does anyone know George W. Bush's actual IQ? Links to credible references would be very much prefered (Lovenstein Institute is not a credible reference, as they don't exist).

  • Any Organizations that Fight the Sexist Selective Service Policy?

I'm looking for any groups that are currently active that fight the policy of selective service on the grounds of sexism. I'm NOT looking for groups that fight it for other reasons, so please don't link me to any.

Can anyone direct me to some groups that are fighting this travesty?

  • Far Cry 2 Suddenly Running Slow...?

I go to start up Far Cry 2, which has been running flawlessly for months, and on the menu screen, I'm getting a rate of about 0.2 FPS. So I hit Alt+Enter to bring up windowed mode, and it runs beautifully. Switching back to full screen, though, the frame rate immediatley drops again. Suggestions?

  • OPEN OFFICE WRITER SUCKS!!!?

Alright, I'm starting to get extremely pissed off. I HATE these retarded programs that think they're smarter than you are, and I HATE the idiots who program them that way. As an aspiring game developer, I know what constitutes a good design choice, and this IS NOT A GOOD DESIGN CHOICE.

Every time I go to paste something in the Open Office Writer, I end up with this dumb grey box around whatever I've just posted, and it's really starting to make me want to go shoot up the branch at Microsoft that created this lousy excuse for a word processor. As if that weren't enough, the bullets and numbering are making me want to shoot myself. Every damn time I try to drop down a line when one of these systems is on, the program decides that a tap of the enter key indicates that I want to increase my margins, change the width of my own bullets, and indent everything. NO, I JUST WANT TO DROP DOWN A DAMN LINE! Why can't word processors learn to just do what I tell them when I tell them and not try to get five steps ahead of me?

Is there any way to disable all this crap so I don't have to put up with it? I've been searching through the entier program and I can't find it. And could the idiots who programed it could kindly kill themselves and rid us of their stupidity?

  • Literary Criticism...?

Are there any websites out there where I can post novellas or short stories for constructive criticism? I don't mean like FictionPress, where you just post stories and maybe get a few reviews that invariably praise them, I'm looking for something where the main point of the site is to receive helpful criticism from seasoned writers. Is there anywhere like this, or did I just stumble upon a million-dollar idea?

  • Bnajo-Tooie (360) Help...?

Now I'm just really ****ing confused...

I'm trying to locate the Ice Key, so I went to its (supposed) location, to the right of the Jinjo houses when you enter the village from Spiral Mountain. There, however, I found the Silver Egg for "Better than a Slap." When I looked it up, though, the guide said that that was where the silver egg was located... But the same guide tolde me that the ice key was there! What the hell!?!?

  • What are some good PC shooters?

I'm looking for something that's fairly innovative gameplay-wise and isn't just another Call of Duty run-n'-gun fest. Preferably not a World War II shooter (yawn) or a modern war shooter (even bigger yawn). I'd also like it to be something that's at least somewhat sandbox-ish (think FarCry 2). I already own:

    - Halo PC

    - Crysis

    - FarCry 2

    - Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway

    - Half Life

    - The Orange Box

    - Bioshock

    - Rainbow Six 3 (don't suggest Vegas)
