Purebreed dog or Mixed Breed dog?
I understand why any sane person would object to backyard breeding. In order to produce a litter of healthy, stable, even tempered puppies, a breeder has to do his research on the potential breeding pair's ancestry and test for diseases and risk of disorders etc they may carry and pass on to their offspring. It's a lot of work. Each dog breed was established with a purpose in mind, right? To make a better guard dog, or a better herding dog, or a hunting dog, etc. Even to just make a better companion that wouldn't snap at his master randomly. My question is this- if an intelligent, experienced breeder has done the background check on two compatible dogs of different pure breeds, and they are a good match genetically, why would it be unethical to breed them? I know people may complain, saying that "the shelters are full of abandoned dogs, if you want a mutt, go rescue one of them.' If someone believes that, that person could go adopt a mutt instead of a pure breed. A dog shouldn't be more or less important just because of its heritage. Its individual traits are what most common people are usually concerned with.
If a mundane person just needs a companion dog that is also good a good hunting dog or guard or something, I doubt that person would care about her pet's background. If a breeder who knows what he's doing intentionally matches a pair for certain desired traits, and he lines up homes in advance, why would that be unethical? I have had mostly "mutts" over the course of my brief life. It was basically pure luck each of them weren't afflicted by many strange diseases that they were genetically predisposed for. (My first dog was large, part German Shepherd Dog, Doberman pinscher and Siberian Husky. He met his end when my family's habit of feeding him ridiculous amounts of unhealthy table scraps made him morbidly obese and gave him hip dysplasia. I had left my dog with two family members when I had to move to a smaller house far away. They continued his poor diet despite my warnings and euthanized him without my knowledge. It was environmental factors that contributed the most to his poor health. When my sibling or I was taking care of him, he got more exercise and a better diet. He was healthier.) I digress. It was fortunate that for the most part, these mutts had good temperaments and never even bit me.
I just wonder if people who complain about these things simply care more about keeping the breeds "pure" rather than overpopulation problems. I've read a LOT about dogs over the years, but again, I'm far from an expert. I didn't mean to offend anyone with my ignorance. I just want to know the reasoning, because personally, I fail to see the logic here.
5 AnswersDogs9 years agoIs America the name of a continent or country?
I honestly don't mean to offend anyone. But I want to know why some people complain when the United States of America is referred to as "America". Citizens of the US are called Americans. Wouldn't that mean their country is America? There is no continent solely named America. There is a North America and a South America. If one is referring to either of these continents, one would specify "North America" or "South America", right? And people who AREN'T from the US call those who are "Americans". So it's not just some name we use for ourselves. I understand it's generally lazy, but few people, even those of us who live here, want to call the country "The United States of America" in regular conversation. "America" by itself is not the name of a continent. (To my understanding. Please correct me if I'm wrong.) So why does calling the United States of America simply America sometimes annoy people? I'm just curious.
10 AnswersGeography9 years agoWhy the #*%@ did disney buy air rights to Shippuuden?!?
Oh my freakin- they've GOT to be kidding. No offense, but Shippuuden is NOT Disney material, nor will it ever be. They'd have to edit and censor it so much. People complained when part I aired on Cartoon Network because the language was censored. That was Part I, people! Shippuuden is a million times less kid friendly! On top of that, Shippuuden was never intended for little kids. Why couldn't have cartoon network or adult swim aired it? But CN is too busy with its sucky faux reality shows no one pays attention to. If you agree with me, check out this: http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/nonarutoondi...
If they’re gonna over censor and edit Shippuuden, I’d rather it not air at all.
7 AnswersComics & Animation1 decade agoWhat is wrong with Cartoon Network lately?!?
Cartoon Network doesn’t really have any decent anime anymore. Yes, Adult Swim has a ton. But CN? Not so much. Toonami doesn’t even exist anymore! WTH?! And this whole "CN real" nonsense, where did it come from? Naruto Shippuuden dub episodes are finally available on I-tunes, and that's great and all, but it's not on TV anymore. My friends and I have been hoping they air less censored Shippuuden episodes on Adult Swim. I heard a rumor about Shippuuden airing on TV starting between September and December this year. That's a wide time frame, but I just want CN to bring it back. Any word on CN bringing back anime?

1 AnswerLyrics1 decade agoAny idea if Square is gonna remake FFVII?
I'm almost 15 now. I was really young (like 4) when it first came out on the PS1 back in 1997. And I read that it was originally gonna be released on the N64, which my big sister had at the time. Recently, I was gonna buy a PS2 or used PS1 JUST for FFVII, but never got around to it. I wanted a PS2 and got a lame Game Cube instead. I have an N64, GBA SP, GC, and DS lite now. I'd actually save up for a PS3 or PSP if they'd re-release/remake FFVII. If it was ever remade for the DS, I'd probably pay the usual $40 for a FF game on the DS, the day it was released. yeah, i really wanna play FFVII. XD!
2 AnswersVideo & Online Games1 decade agoManga-ka drawing a blank!?
I'm 14. I'm writing a story that would probably make a better graphic novel(or American manga of sorts) than anything else, but I'm still working on my drawing skills. So i'm just writing the story. I've had the same three main characters for bout 4 years now. The only thing that really changes are details in the plot, and a little bit of the character's personalites. But I think i've got a good plot this time. My problem is, the characters need last names. I can't come up with a nationality neutrel last name, though. Oh, and got any suggestions for a cool weapon other that a giant sword? (It's kinda cliched...cough. cloud strife.cough FFVII cough. kurosaki ichigo cough Bleach cough)
2 AnswersComics & Animation1 decade agoRandom Pokemon game questions?
Does anybody else think they should remake every single Pokemon game for the nintendo DS? (especially G/S/C), and make the rival a playable character? (That'd be cool, in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I love my game boy advance SP, but I wanna be able to explore Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn with slightly better graphics. And we never got a g/s/c remake, remember? That, and I'm tired of Sinnoh .
3 AnswersVideo & Online Games1 decade agoI have a pretty good manga idea, but I can't draw... what about a light novel instead?
I'm a 14 year old american girl with a decent idea for a manga, but I can't draw. At all. I've tried the how-to-draw-books, and those don't work for me. I watch anime, like, 24/7, and I read manga alot, but still haven't been able to pick anything up.(I've been watching anime for a good 10 years) Does anyone think I'd be able to get my story published as a light novel instead? I dunno if Tokyopop publishes light novels, and I think Viz only publishes Japanese stuff.
