Experiment: Describe this person based purely on their name alone?
Name: Louis Dane Chen
Please be as honest and detailed as possible. I would like to see what kind of stereotypes this type of name conjures up for others, for my own personal interest.

4 AnswersBaby Names6 years agoWhat do you think of the name Luis on a non-latino boy?
My wife and I are thinking of a name for our son, who will be born in the next few months. I am caucasoid American, and she is Chinese. I really like the name Luis, and understand that it has Spanish, Portugeuse and German origins (and I am of German hertiage), but I realise that it is associated moreso with latinos that non-latinos. Clearly, my son will be non-latino. Does anyone think it cause any issues if I name him Luis, and if so, why?
Thanks in advance for your answer.

4 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups6 years agoLetting Her Grandparents Raise Our Kid in China?
My partner and I work full-time in the US. She is Chinese, I am American. We have been talking about having a baby, but this means that one of us will have to quit our job to take care of the child. Her parents, who live in China, have told us that they would be happy to raise our child up until it is about 5 or 6. The idea seems a little crazy, but would there be any advantages or disadvantages of doing this? Thanks for your replies :).

7 AnswersGenealogy9 years agoHow can I get a cheap copy of MYOB?
MYOB costs around $290 for the basic version of software. Does anyone know of any way to get a cheaper version of it? I am a poor starving student, and learn software quickly. If I could afford to buy a copy of MYOB, then I would be able to get a basic book-keeping job quite easily where I live.
Thanks!
2 AnswersOther - Business & Finance9 years agoIs 'Awesome' a good surname?
My first name is Shannon, and I want a cool last name. My current surname is really bad, it sounds like a four letter word and I hate it. I want a surname that gets respect and sounds cool. Can someone please suggest me a good name, if "Awesome" is not good?
6 AnswersGenealogy1 decade agoInternational Retirement Funds?
Does anyone know if there are any international retirement funds for people such as dual citizens who travel around the world and work for companies owned by different countries? For example, if I were a dual citizen of the USA and some other country, is there a retirement fund similar to the 401k that I could contribute to while working for a non-US company overseas which would also allow me to contribute to it at a later date while working in the US for a US company?
2 AnswersPersonal Finance1 decade agoCheapest Computer Parts Store that Delivers to Australia?
I'm an Aussie who has been living in the USA for the last few years and I was wondering what are the cheapest computer parts stores (online or not) that ship parts to Australia?
The reason that I ask is because I'm moving back to Australia next month, and I want to build myself a new PC when I get there but it seems as though the prices in Oz are a bit higher for computer parts and accessories than in the US.
Thanks in advance!

I'm trying to decide between studying an MEng degree in Software Engineering or a generic MBA and can't make up my mind. I'm currently employed as a software engineer. Does anyone know the pros and cons of getting an MEng degree vs getting an MBA degree? Which one would give me more high-paying job options around the world over the next 10-20 years?

8 AnswersSan Francisco1 decade agoWhat paperwork does an American citizen who is visiting England for a week need to complete?
I've read on the UK Immigration website that you don't need to have a visa for such a short trip. I was wondering if there was anything else that needed to be completed (other than the immigration forms you fill out on any international flight) before heading over to England? Thanks in advance :)
5 AnswersLondon1 decade agoDo you agree that hasty generalizations (blanket statements) cause flame wars in online forums?
For example, for almost every question in Yahoo Answers, there is at least one person that says something stupid like "all asians are [...]" or "all americans are [...]". Where does these worldly, all-seeing prophets materialize from? It's as if people are sleep-walking while dreaming that they are God and know everything before they get online post ludicrous nonsense that can't be substantiated with any scientific or statistical evidence... rant finished.:).

14 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoWhat are the pros and cons of being a sperm donor?
I'm interested in getting paid to donate sperm, but I am concerned about the potential problems that being a sperm donor may bring. Do the kids grow up to despise you? I heard from children born from IVF that the mystery of not knowing or having a father in some cases really hurts them, and I hesitate to be a sperm donor because of this. Also, is it right for a Christian to donate sperm? Are there any religious repercussions? Anybody ? Thanks :)
