  • what is a fair amount for room & board for two adults?

Here's the scene: brother in law and fiancee move back to home state based on offer to "come stay with us until you find jobs" with no mention of rent or anything . . after they came, a ridiculously rent is demanded, so the question to the yahoo community is: what is a fair rent per week for a 12 x 14 bedroom, access to (cold water only) laundry, hot shower, and groceries for two normal eating adults? Appreciate as much feedback as possible, thanks!!

  • Are people parasites on the Earth and is voluntary population control possible?

If the Earth were a live organism, which it is, though not, perhaps, a conscious one, then aren't we a bunch of parasites upon the Earth, leaving lesions and scars, using up the resources of the host organism, and, like too many fleas on one dog, are we not shortsightedly killing our only available host? Can anyone think of any major social, economic, etc. issues that would not be at least somewhat alleviated by simply having less people to compete for everything? Isn't voluntary population control our only viable option, and isn't education of the young paramount to beginning to demonstrate this kind of wisdom?

  • Does anyone else think it would be a good idea to hire the Blackwater firm to take care of pirates?

Since they were too gung ho in Iraq, let's turn them loose on the pirates and see what happens . . . and what the heck is going on over there, that other countries don't take the same kind of action we did, to the point that the pirates had "become used to no resistance once they board a ship?" It's 2009, not 1749 . . . why is the US the only country to stand up for it's merchant marine?
