  • What is a good ant poison that works on multiple kinds of ants?

I have at least 5 different types of ants in my yard & I'm really sick of them biting me every time I walk outside. From what I can tell, I definitely have black ants & fire ants & I'm pretty sure I have carpenter ants too but I can't tell about the others. Is there a good ant poison that will kill all of these ants but won't kill my grass.

  • How long should I boil dog bones in broth to flavor them?

My dogs are bored with their bones. The bones were the beef bones called The Sarge by Merrick. They've already ripped off all the jerky like beef on the outside and after a couple months, have lost interest in the bones altogether. I was told I could boil them in chicken broth to add some flavor but how long should I boil them? I put the bones in a small stock pot (5 qt), added just enough water to barely cover the bones, added two heaping teaspoons of chicken bouillon, & covered the pot. They've been steadily boiling in the broth for 30 mins now. How much longer should they boil? Did I add enough bouillon to the mix? I also thought about shoving some baby carrots or peanut butter in the bones but I don't want them to mess up my carpets. Any guidance?

  • How much is a used queen-sized mattress worth?

I have queen-sized mattress, box spring, & rail that I want to sell but I have no idea how much it's worth. The set is about 6-7 years old but was only used for 2 years. Since then it has been sitting in my guest bedroom/office. The mattress has no rips, stains, odors, etc and I would say it is in fairly good condition. How much would everyone think this set is worth?

  • Do you capitalize the word chlamydia?

I'm writing a paper on sexually transmitted diseases and I was curious if you are supposed to capitalize the word chlamydia (or gonorrhea, syphilis, etc) when you are referring to the disease and not the bacteria that causes it. I have seen cases with it capitalized and without it in the journal articles I am citing so I am not sure as to what is the proper procedure.

  • Are there any examples in literature where the romance didn't end in tragedy?

I can't think of any examples in literature where everything turned out alright for the lovers in the story.

  • What would be a good sushi/sashimi knife for an amateur?

My husband likes to make sushi & sashimi as a hobby & has been wanting an appropriate knife for such tasks for some time now. I thought this would make a great anniversary present but I have no idea what kind of knife to get him. He doesn't need one of the pricey high-end knives because this is just a hobby but I would still like to get him a quality knife (without breaking the bank).

What type of knife & brand would be good for him? I've been reading some and have thought about getting him a Bunmei 10-1/2-Inch Yanagi Sashimi Knife but I'm still not sure.

  • What kind of toys are good for an adult American Pit Bull Terrier to chew on?

I have a 1 yr old APBT that seems to be able to chew through anything. I know they have the 3rd strongest jaw strengths out of all canines but good grief! It seems like he is capable of getting through even the toughest toys with no issue. If any of you out there have APBTs, Rotties, German Shepherds, Amstaffs, etc, please let me know what kind of toys you have that seem to last.

Also, if you feel the urge to "inform" me of how evil pit bulls are and that I have Satan's pet running around my house that is eventually going to rip my throat out, please take your opinion somewhere else and we can agree to disagree.

  • Fable 2: My spouse disappeared and I can't find him?

I have two husbands in the game. My first husband is the blacksmith from Bowerstone Market and my second husband is the Stonecutter from the Gypsy camp. Before leaving for the Spire, I set up husband #1 in The Nice House in Bowerstone and husband #2 in the farm house behind the Demon Door. I had kids with both of them and everything was going fine so I headed off to the Spire. Well, when I got back, I went to see husband #2 and everything went great. However, when I went to see husband #1 I found our daughter in the house just standing around. She is completely unresponsive to anything I do or say. Furthermore, husband #1 is nowhere to be found. It keeps saying that he has a gift for me but I can't find him. I've tried quiting without saving and then restarting, sleeping for 7 days straight in the marital house, leaving and reentering the region, and setting that family as my primary quest but nothing seems to work. How do I get husband #1 back?

  • Does anyone know what a Cytotoxic T-cell Lysis Assay is?

My teacher assigned us to write a paper explaining an immunological technique. My assignment is to write about Cytotoxic T-cell Lysis Assays but I can't find any information about them. It's hard to write a paper about something that you don't know anything about and can't find any information on. Does anyone know what this technique is and where I can find some articles to read a little bit about it?

  • What bacteria can survive autoclaving?

My friend and I are debating whether or not there is a bacteria that can survive autoclaving. She says no bacteria can survive proper autoclaving but I am positive that I heard about a recent discovery of one that could. I think it might have belonged to one of the spore forming genera (i.e. bacillus) but I'm not sure. Does anyone know the answer?

Please site your sources so I can prove which one of us is right.

  • What happens to the self peptides that are presented on class I MHC molecules?

I'm reading over the MHC chapter in my immunology book and I was a little confused by this. It says that class I MHC molecules will often try and present self peptides but T cells only recognize nonself peptides. What happens to these self peptides then? Do they just stay there and hang out with the MHC on the cell surface? Are the class I MHC molecules just presenting random peptides that happen to fit into the cleft? Does anything come and remove these self peptides? Any clarification you can provide would be greatly appreciated because this is really bugging me.

  • Anniversary Ideas?

My two year wedding anniversary is coming up on Tuesday and I have no idea what to do! We are both college students and had to take time off from work for finals so getting time off for a weekend getaway isn't going to happen. I need reasonably priced ideas that aren't overly cliche. HELP!

  • What is the difference between F actin and G actin in thin filaments?

I understand that both are types of actin but, how do they relate to each other in thin filaments? Also, is the pearl structure seen in thin filaments made up of G actin or F actin?

  • How does Klebsiella pneumoniae and E. coli look on Bile Esculin agar?

I have an unknown that I am trying to identify. The gram stain showed that it was a gram negative rod. The organism grew on aerobic and anaerobic plates so it must be a falculative anaerobe. It grew light purple colonies on MacConkey's and it was catalase positive. With this info (and the list of possibilities) I narrowed it down to being either E. coli or K. pneumoniae. Because our recent topic has been anaerobes we were supposed to use Bacteroides Bile Esculin agar but apparently we were out so we were provided with regular Bile Esculin agar instead. I was using the fact that K. pneumoniae can grow on BBE to make my id. The agar was blackish brown after being incubated anaerobically for 2 days. However, after finding out that we used Bile Esculin rather than BBE, I'm not so sure that it's K. pneumoniae anymore. How would E. coli and K. pneumoniae look on regular Bile Esculin?

  • Where can I find peer reviewed articles about fiddler crab endocrinology (relating to color change)?

I have a paper due next week about fiddler crab endocrinology. My teacher just informed us yesterday that all of our sources must be peer reviewed and that we now need around twenty sources instead of the previously assigned five. I already have a few sources but how can I tell if they are peer reviewed? Does anyone know of any good websites where I can find peer reviewed articles about this topic? I would prefer sites that I do not have to pay to see the articles.

  • Does it matter if a school's MPH program is not accredited?

I am currently attending the University of West Florida and UWF offers an MPH program that is completely online. I love the idea that their program is online because:

    1) my husband will have to transfer to another school for his grad degree because UWF does not offer it.

    2) I could work a "real" job rather than food service and still go to school

    3) I can work at my own pace

The only problem with UWF's program is that it is still being reviewed and thus, is not accredited and won't be for some time. I know with some degrees it does not really matter if the program is accredited. Is this one of them? If it is a big deal, where can I find a list of schools that do have accredited MPH programs (preferably in Florida seeing that I have residency here)?

  • Is it possible for an O+ man to father an AB+ child?

We did a blood typing experiment in class the other day and I had trouble reading my results. I thought that I might be O+ because I couldn't really see any clumps forming with my blood interacting with the anti-A or anti-B serum. I called my teacher over to ask him and he looked, pointed out a couple tiny clumps, and said that my results meant that I was AB+. My dad is O+ and my mom is A+ and, from my understanding of genetics, that would mean that I would have to be A+ or O+ right? Could the test be wrong or is my dad not my biological father?
