  • Social Security # Online?

I am applying for jobs online, and some of them have a required field for my social security number. I do not trust entering it into an online application and instead thought of putting all zeros (000-00-0000) in its place.

I was wondering if this was okay? I considered it my only alternative to "will provide upon hire".

  • Understanding This Deadline?

If I have to submit something by a deadline of May 31, 2011 no later than 11:59 pm Pacific Standard Time, does this mean I have until tomorrow to submit or do I have until 11:59 tonight to submit? I am on Central Standard Time so 11:59 pm would 2:59 am.

  • Sending Letters of Reccomendation?

I have a letter from my Girl Scout troop leader and was wondering how to send it to colleges. Do I mail it to the Admissions Office? She would be an extracurricular recommendation so I don't think they have school forms for that. either way I have it, where do I send it?

  • Your Mom's Affection Style?

How does your mom display her affection? Has this in any way influenced how you display it?

My mom: the frequency of her affection isn't as weird as the format she presents it in. She mostly likes to call me weird names like echinacea (the plant) or rhymes my name, e.g. Maya Kominaya. She does this whispered baby talk occasionally when she gives me hugs.

  • Is This Type of Dream a Bad Sign?

They say dreaming of marriage is a bad thing. I had a dream about it last night. I’m 17 and I have no boyfriend, I’ve never even been on a date.

    The Dream:

I was on a trip with my Girl Scout Troop, our troop leader, and her husband (he usual drives). We returned home and were driving around our city when we decided to stop in front of this apartment. It was silvery gray and dark brown and had this gothic church/cathedral look to it. My troop leader’s husband wanted to take a picture. We all stopped and got out. Eventually another girl and me went up to stand around with him and he said he wanted to take a picture of us.

While we were taking the picture a group of people came out. A boy and his family. I recognized him as a boyfriend and soon the dream turned into our marriage. He went down with my Girl Scout troop, which had grown larger. There were even girls there who had left the troop but were invited to the marriage by my troop leader. He took pictures with them and his family (I recognized his mom as my mother-in-law); they were all laughing and enjoying each other’s company.

Eventually we got married, I don’t vividly recall the ceremony but I remember the reception. Everyone was gathered to eat, he and I were in line getting food trying to become comfortable with out new status, there was a mutual love between us though, we were happy to grow our relationship, I also had a secure feeling with him, he seemed sweet.

The strangest thing is that my family wasn’t present at all. None of my immediate or extended family was in any part of the dream, before or after the marriage. I did get into a fight with another girl (we eventually made up) and told her that things she was doing (facial expressions, movements) were very similar to what my brother would do.

I am sending in college applications right now and going through the whole process. It’s been on my mind a lot, and I’m applying to schools far away from my home state.

  • A Comparison of We the Living and The Fountainhead..?

I'm not sure of which Ayn Rand book to choose. I've read Atlas Shrugged and I know that it is supposed to complement The Fountainhead, but I'm a little intrigued to read We the Living.

Could you guys give me a comparison to let me know which I should pick.

  • Why Do Charitable Commercials Make People Uncomfortable?

What do you think makes people feel guilty, uncomfortable, or even annoyed (there seems to be some general consensus on the animal cruelty commercial feat. the Sarah McLachlan song) when they see them?

Do you think it's good/bad, and how do you usually react to them?

I do feel bad that I can't help or donate anything. I'm also unable to change the channel.

  • Taking Online Courses before College?

I'm a recent graduate and have been home-schooled since 6th grade. I'm planning on applying this fall for enrollment next year. I was wondering how one could go about taking college courses (preferably online) and earning credit for them.

  • It's Probably Stupid That I'm Confused?

I keep tripping up at this:

    7x(1-4) / 3+2= -5

    I know 1-4= -3, 7x -3= -21, and 3+2= 5. How then when you put it all together, do you get -5?

  • What does it mean and how to help?

Why does he do these things and what can help.

My brother makes vocal noises, grunts and moans. My brother spits his food out and eats it, throws food on the floor, takes little pieces of what he's eating and stuffs them in his pocket or puts it back inside of what it came out of. He touches everything he walks past, the ground, and has to almost always leave one thing behind. He was diagnosed w/ autism but my mother says he really has an auditory processing issue and digestive/immune system problems. He's 17 going on 18 in March.

  • Choosing Between 2 Sides?

When it comes to college and career I can't pick between arts or academics. My interests lie heavily between music, film, and politics. Every time I want to focus on just one the others drag me back in. How should I pick and what should I study. Music seems to be at the top, then film, then politics. I also like writing so I could be an author (political) or write a column, or become a journalist. I'm not sure but they all seem to intertwine seamless for me so are there any careers where all three could meet?

  • Becoming a Politician?

What degrees are needed in becoming a politician. I've read a law degree is not necessarily a requirement but very helpful.
