Lost another account. Shame that you can't cal an idiot a idiot but what are ya gonna do. I have trained Isshin-Ryu karate for 19 years. I have a wonderful wife, and 3 dogs. If you were a contact before feel free to add me.
If you studied kempo for 10 years, and still thought kata was only a dance, who would you blame?
If the only experience you had with kata was studying a martial art for 10 years, and still thought it was only a prearranged dance, and had no use in learning to defend yourself, would you blame the kata, or your ignorant lame *** instructor that didn't teach you properly? Wouldn't you maybe check out some other schools?
19 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoMMA's trolls, why do you think that traditional arts, trained correctly, are worthless?
I see many MMA's people on here, most of whom i assume are trolls, fanboys, and wanna bes, that seem to think that a traditional martial artist that may only study one style can't survive on the street.
Some of this is in response to a John Doe question about rules, where some fanboys answered that traditional artists don't know what violence is...
My question is why do you think styles that have been around for decades, if not hundreds of years, many of which were designed for combat, have no value today? Yes maybe a traditional artist, that trains for self defense, is at a disadvantage in a ring, however does that automaticly make it useless for self defense? If you think so why? Most people that attack for no reason are not going to be highly trained fighters. I do not hear of too many BJJ black belts running around attacking people at random....do you?
You say we have no concept of violence, however I think you are the ones that have no concept of the difference between a street fight and self defense. A street fight is a clash of ego's that take two willing parties, while self defense is you are given no option but to defend yourself.
Do most of you see self defense the same as a UFC fight? If so you are the ones mistaken.
Self defense is nasty, messy, and brutal. There is no official to stop it and no one cheering you on. The prize is not one in the win column, money, or a belt, often it is simply survival. Many times there are weapons involved.
With this being said, how can you honestly say that a traditional art, properly trained, one that probably practices defending against unprevoked suprise attacks, and with weapons, is useless for the street? I have never seen a high ranking "traditional" artists say that MMA would not work in self defense.
FYI I have studied Isshin-Ryu karate for 19 years, however I also train to use a blade and legally carry concealed...does this not make me a form of MMA?
Martial= Military just FYI
11 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoDo you feel angry or honored when a troll blocks you?
Just wondering if anyone else feels honored when a troll, that has the mentality of a 5th grader, blocks you?
A person I shall not name but his name sounds like ron bo, a true MMA master, blocked me, for which I am very pleased, since I assume it meant I got to him. How do you feel when someone like this blocks you?
19 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoIs the auto insurance analogy the lamest one?
I repeatedly see people in favor of the health care bill on here say that the individual mandate is ok because it is the same as people being forced to have auto insurance.
How is this as there are some major diffrences in the two.
1) If you do not own a car you are not required to have it.
2) Auto insurance is controled and legislated by the states, not the Federal government.
3) If i do not own a car and don't have insurance, I cannot be fined.
So can any one on here tell me how car insurance gives the government the right to make a person buy health insurance?
4 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoDonovan, what do you say now?
