When I right click on an image and click "Save Image As" it doesn't let me choose where to save it, or any other files. How can I set it up so I can choose where to save my files?

i like firefox much more than internet explorer, so i decided to just delete internet explorer all together. it was just taking up space, and it had a this spy protection virus attached to it. but its like a rejected ex that cant seem to except that its been bumped. randomly it opens, literally like 20 windows saying it cant seem to connect. any one else had this problem? what the hell do i do?
