  • I made my 4x100m relay team very upset?

Yesterday was the county championships, and I was assigned to the 100m dash and 4x100m relay. Everything went bad. I was in heat of the 100m dash. I couldn't run full out because of my torn upper-region of the left quads, and messed up tendon. The gun blew, and I got last place 0.4s away from the rest. My hip made a noise at the 50m and I slowed down. Everyone got a little ahead of me.

So, I couldn't run the 4x100m relay. My team was very upset, because I am one of the fastest on it. They subbed someone in for me. I saw the results and they came in last. Their upset I couldn't do it, but it's because of my torn and messed up leg.

    I feel like quitting track.

  • Why does the left side of my hip/waist hurt after sprinting?

Ever since my first track sprint, the left side of my hip/waist has been hurting so bad. It goes away in 2 days. But every practice and meet I go to the pain gets worse. I don't know if it my muscle or bone?

It happens after I sprint the 100m and 4x100m relay.

  • Is this a good mile time for a sprinter?

I have never trained for the mile. My first run was 7:44. I got third place, but I am not meant for mile races.

I get 12.7s on most 100m dash sprints.

  • Why do my hips, knees, and ankles hurt after running/sprinting?

I'm in track and recently during practice the left side of my hip was hurting, along with my knees and ankles. I'm a sprinter; so, for practice I run 800m then rest, 400m the rest, 200m then rest, 100m then rest. They require full effort. The practices that I've recently gone to all of my joints have been hurting. I am a fast sprinter, but don't know what it could be. What could I do to have it feel less painful? I have a track meet tomorrow.

  • I'm the worst sprinter on my track team? Any tips to improve?

My PB 100m dash; 12.41s 7th grade. Last season.

This new season, I am so slow compared to the others that I competed with. I feel like I shouldn't even run it. I'm not good at field events or track events.

How do I improve my 100m dash time? I hope I can be at least 3rd in the next meet.

  • Are these good ways to improve in the 100m dash?

To improve on the 100m dash when running I:

    1. Move arms faster

    2. Have hands pointed

    3. Take long, but not too long, strides

Should I add anything? How do I get better at my starting (Start up position)

What should I do to improve sprinting endurance, maximum speed and acceleration for the 100m dash?

I want to start getting to the 11.5s-11.9s range.

  • Is my time good? Can I improve?

We had our first track meet. I did the 4x100m relay first. I versed a team of athletes that looked like 11th graders; big muscles, tall, bulky. I thought my team was going to loose. When the stick gets to me I am in perfect or better speed than the tall sprinter. I couldn't believe I could run that fast.

My 100m dash time is 12.2s. Can I improve? How? When I'm under pressure I run faster, so it isn't my average.

    Any tips?

  • Is this a good routine for improvements on sprints?

I've been wanting to improve my 100m dash time to last year's 12.41s sprint. Everyday at 5:30 AM I go to the gym to exercise:

    1. Legs

    2. Chest and Back

    3. Shoulders and Arms

    4. Legs

    5. Chest and Back

    6. Break

    7. Chest and Back

    (Mon-Sun)

I run for 30 minutes on the elliptical machine everyday except the days after doing legs.

What should I add to improve on the 100m dash?

I've heard about doing plyometric exercises, but don't what they are.

How do I improve my fast-twitch fiber muscle? (If possible)

    Any other tips?

Recently I did the 50m dash in around 6s (6.2s exact).

  • What's the age requirement to be in the Olympics for track?

2012; the next (hopefully) Olympics. Is being 17 by 2012 an age that is eligible for someone to compete in the Olympics?

It also matters how good someone is.
