how long can you leave baby's first foods for?
My six month old doesn't eat yet. I have tried a dozen times with different foods but she doesn't like any of the food I have tried and then she usually gags and then throws up. I just figured she wasn't ready yet so decided to try feeding her every 5 days or so cos she will eat one day and she is certainly very healthy and happy and breastfeeds very well and still gains weight.
The community health nurse freaked me out though by saying that she has to eat at 6 months because otherwise she will end up with an iron deficiency. I asked my mother about this and she said I should just do what I have been doing because she will eat in her own time and she can probably go up to 9 months or so without it being a problem
who do you agree with? my mother or the nurse? and do you have experience with a baby who took a while to eat? The only other advice I got was from my MIL who said I should feed her custard but I don't want her first food to be packed with sugar.
