Changing the bullet of 7.62x39 bimetallic ammo?
The only range I can shoot my WASR AK at strictly forbids any ammo that sticks to a magnet. I was thinking of pulling the bullets on some new production Ulyanovsk 7.62x39 and replacing with lead core .310" projectiles. I would use the same OAL and maybe reduce the charge by 5% (if necessary). I have corrosive lead core Yugo surplus but those 500 rounds of cleaner steel core Ulyanovsk are just sitting in the closet collecting dust. Is this safe to do?
6 AnswersHunting9 years agoWhy don't former presidents go back to work as elected officials?
They all seem to become authors or lecturers. Is it considered too much of a "downgrade" to become a senator or governor again, even if they had a successful presidency? Is it too lucrative to not stay in the private sector? Or is there some law that does not allow it? I've always been curious and was wondering what you think.
2 AnswersGovernment10 years agoWill buying a new router increase my youtube upload speeds?
I have a 3 year old Cisco router, and I like to post my videos in at least 720p resolution. A 10 minute video is taking well over an hour to upload. Is this about average, or should I buy a new router, and will that make any difference? If so, any suggestions? Under $70 would be nice. Thank you for your help!
2 AnswersYouTube10 years agoRemington 700 SPS: Tactical, Regular, or Varmint?
I'm interested in buying a 700 SPS but was hoping I could get some help deciding between the regular SPS, Tactical, or Varmint (in .308). This will be just for target shooting, probably no more than 600 yards max. I like the bull/heavy barrel of the Tactical, but does the 20" barrel give it any real disadvantage against the other two with the longer barrels? Also, do all three models have heavy barrels or is it just the tactical? Any suggestions/recommendations are welcome.
3 AnswersHunting10 years agowhy is Hawaii such an anti-gun state?
I live in California and am pretty familiar with our strong anti-gun policies and the source of them, but I'm curious as to why Hawaii has such strict gun laws. Is it a cultural issue, or was there some historical precedent? Just curious
5 AnswersHunting1 decade agoHow can I hide the characters of my passwords while I am typing them on the iPhone?
How do you set up an iPhone or iPad to hide the characters of a password while it is being typed in? Each character stays on the screen for a couple of seconds before it morphs into a dot. How do you set it up so that only a "dot" shows on the screen while inputing passwords, so that someone behind you can't see what you are typing? Thanks
3 AnswersSecurity1 decade agoCan I convert my .40 S&W Glock into a 9 mm by buying a 9mm barrel & magazine? Safely? ?
Basically converting my Glock 22 into a G-17 to use cheaper 9 mm ammo for target practice, then going back to .40 for home defense. Any Glock armorers out there know if this is ok? I know you can't go from 9 to .40 but is going down in caliber safe to do?
6 AnswersHunting1 decade agoWhy does my MacBook battery indicator say 96% even though it is fully charged?
18 month old MacBook running Snow Leopard OS. It's been plugged in for days and yet only says the battery is 96%. Is my battery wearing out?
3 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks1 decade agoCan you recommend a good magazine for a full size Kimber 1911 pistol?
7 AnswersHunting1 decade agoWho makes a better 1911 pistol - Colt or Kimber?
In the price range of around $1000 (I can't afford the fancy Les Baers or Wilson Combats), would you rather buy a Kimber or Colt 1911 style pistol? I'm only considering the full size 5" barrel versions. Thanks for your thoughts.

6 AnswersHunting1 decade agoCan you recommend a decent gun safe for one pistol and one shotgun?
I have a pistol that is on backorder and am thinking about buying a short barrel (home defense) shotgun as well. Could you please recommend a gun safe that could hold both weapons? Or am I better off getting a separate safe for each gun? If so, please recommend one for each. Extra info: I live in an apartment so the smaller the better; plus I don't have the option of bolting anything into the ground. Also I don't think I'll be buying more than one long gun any time soon. Thanks in advance!
3 AnswersHunting1 decade agoAre the barrels on all non super magnum Remington 870s interchangeable?
I would like a decent home defense shotgun but I like the look of wood more than the black synthetic look that most HD/tactical shotguns seem to have. Can I buy an 870 with a longer barrel to use for recreational shooting, and then buy a separate 18" barrel from Remington for the home? Or am I stuck with the black synthetics? Is there a Mossberg model that fits the bill? Also looking at the Marine Magnum but I'm not sure if it only fires super magnum shells or if it can fire the smaller 2 .75 & 3 inch shells. I'm kind of a noob so your advice is greatly appreciated.
2 AnswersHunting1 decade agoWhy do they add that clicking sound effect in the movies when a pistol is raised up and aimed?
Why do they add that click/slide being pulled back sound in tv and movies when somebody raises a pistol to aim at someone else? All they are doing is raising the gun and not cocking the hammer or pulling/releasing the slide. Is that just for effect or do some pistols really make those sounds?
10 AnswersHunting1 decade agoIs a 12-gauge super magnum shell necessary for home defense, or are the 2.75 & 3 inch shells sufficient?
I'm starting to do my research into possibly purchasing a shotgun and I'm looking into the Remington 870 7-round synthetic. But should I get a model that can also fire 3.5 inch super magnums, or is that overkill?
