  • Lawyers/Paralegals special education?

When I was in school I was diagnosed with a learning disability. Throughout school I remained in special education classes which was a different and slower paced curriculum. My Parents never bothered to ask questions and always just signed the documents (for tests/and placement in special education classes) but were never given any copies.

Now I know my parents are just a responsible for not asking questions and learning more . I've learned that parents should demand answers on what learning disabilities kids have and what the school districts should do (having a plan) to return Special Ed. students to regular classes.

As an Adult who has returned to school (college), its apparent that these special education classes have actually made me worse off. Now that is my opinion based off some research I've done and my current deficiencies (because of the Special Ed. Curriculum) that I am having to make up for now. My parents were given nothing about my Learning Disability (my parents always said it was handled oddly with a lot secrecy) and its obvious to me that the school district wasn't very forthcoming with information nor was there any plan to get me back into regular classes. By NJ law, those documents have now been destroyed, and neither the school or myself have anything to show for. My question is, do I have a case for suing the district for mismanaging my education.

  • does this seem like discrimination?

i am veteran. the small business administration pays for business courses (with tax payer money) for veterans interested in starting/owning a business. the courses are offered at select universities and colleges. the catch is you must be a disabled veteran, a family member of a disabled veteran, or a female veteran. they have nothing for male veterans with no disabilities. so i applied anyway, i attached my dd-214 and the response i got back was "this program is only open to females". does this sound like gender discrimination? i did call the small business administration and asked what programs do they have for, non disabled veterans that are male, and they said they don't have anything like that. i asked isn't that kinda discriminatory and the woman who i was speaking with said "well thats just the way it is". how can the gov't use tax payer money like that and discriminate?

  • can take my city to small claims court?

Can i take my city to small claims court. i received a parking ticket for parking in the street. The street is marked by a sign to not park during those hours, but there is no where else to park within reasonable walking distance, because they sweep all the streets in the area during the same time. Do i have a case? Should they not provide a parking lot for the residents to park at during these times, or at least alternate streets on different days so we have some where to park. i want to stand up for my rights because i believe this is nothing more than a tax to get more money out of us. I am pretty sure that there is a lot of other residents that feel the same way.
