  • How common are NICS delays?

I was delayed for the first time yesterday and was wondering if more people are experiencing delays for the first time. It's more than a little annoying to have to leave my purchase while NICS works out their bs.

  • Suggestions for muzzleloader bullets?

I am trying to work up a new load for my CVA magbolt 150. I have used powerbelt and precision rifle qt sabots with 100 grains of 777 pellets or 100 grains of shockey’s gold with disappointing on game performance. They are accurate enough that I can get under an inch at 100 yards but when I make boiler room shots they leave little to no blood and I do not believe they are sturdy enough for shoulder shots. What have you had luck with?

  • What kind of steel targets do you like to shoot at?

I have been helping a friend build targets for a few months to sell at gun shows. We build dueling trees, knockdown racks, silhouettes (both hostage and standard) and gongs. What kink of targets would you enjoy shooting at? Do you prefer static or action targets? Thanks for any info.

  • 25-06 vs. 30-06 out to 300 yards?

I know I have been beating this subject to death but is there an appreciable difference between the 25-06 and the 30-06 out to 300 yards? I have looked at several ballistic calculators and they show that they are within inches of each other out to 500 yards. Given the greater ammo availability of the 30-06 is there any reason to choose the 25-06 over the 30-06?

  • Question about the 25-06?

I have seen some comments on here about the 25-06 being phased out. Is this true or is just a result of it being a less common cartridge than say the 30-06 and 308?

  • Has anyone taken a deer yet this season? Archery, muzzleloader or rifle?

This weekend will be my first chance of the season to get into the deer woods to actually hunt and I was just curious what kind of luck the people here are having.

  • What is your favorite muzzle loading bullet and powder combo?

I like, or rather my gun likes, the 215 grain Precision Rifle QT on top of 100 grain Shockey's Gold Super Stick.

Also, has anyone had problems with Powerbelts not expanding properly on impact? They are the recommended bullet for my CVA and shot beautifully but the on game performance left much to be desired.

  • Anyone have any experience with the savage 116FHSS?

I have been contemplating getting a Savage Weather Warrior for the past few months and was wanting other hunters opinion of this rifle. Is it worth taking the step up from the 111FHNS? Has anyone dealt with Savage customer service in regards to having a rifle custom built? I want to have one built with a 24” barrel.

Lastly, I am torn between the 25-06 and the 30-06 for deer hunting. I know this is opening a can of worms but what do you feel is the better caliber for Oklahoma deer?

    Thanks for the answers

  • What is a good price for a used Remington 700 CDL 7mm Ultra Mag?

I am considering selling my Remington 700 CDL 7mm Ultra Magnum. It is in very good condition with only a few small imperfections. I have looked at a few sites online but wanted to get the opinions of the people here. I realize that without actually seeing the rifle it is just a rough guess but what would be a good starting price for a rifle like this?

Thanks for your answers in advance.

  • What are your options against a poor marine repair service?

I took my boat in for repair on the 8th of September with the diagnosis of a blown cylinder. They have striped the upper unit and claim to have had it machined. I have contacted them on a bi-weekly basis since that time and they always have some excuse as to why the repairs are not completed. The excuses have ranged from problems obtaining parts to sick kids. I understand that delays happen but after months of excuses they all seem to be little more than bs. They have made no attempts to contact me and explain the situation and seem annoyed when I question the delays.

I am curious what my options are. Do I have any legal grounds to take action against them or am I at their mercy? Should I just go pick up the boat and parts and take it to another shop? Would contacting the BBB have any effect on the outcome?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • How can I cure the shooting yips?

I have developed what I can only describe as the yips. I am unable to hold a good pattern on any of my rifles. Before I was holding one inch and under groupings and now, I seem to be lucky to get six-inch groupings. I had another shooter try my rifles and they shot perfectly so it is something that I am doing. This is making me hesitant to go into the field because obviously I want humane kills. What do you think may have caused this and what can I do to alleviate it? Thank you for any opinions.
