  • Can I use lighting with my fish bowl?

I just got a betta yesterday. So I've the bowl on my shelf. And l just realized that with a bit rearranging I can have the fish bowl under the light in my shelf. Which looks so much more cooler and enhances the colors and everything. I just wanted to know if the lighting will in any way affect the fish or water for that matter. I mean I wont place it directly under it so that it gets heated. But a little to the side. Still close though. Its a normal fluorescent energy saver.

Would be grateful if someone told me the pros and cons. I really want to keep it under the light, it makes the visibility so much better.

  • Why is there a layer of bubbles in my Bettas bowl?

So I just got a betta yesterday. And this morning I woke up to see that there is a layer of bubbles on the surface of the water. He's swimming around fine and is pretty active. And ate the pellet I gave him instantly. Is it because of the water not being right? Because the temperature in my room is around 23-29C so I don't think that's a problem. Why is it there?

  • I just got a Betta today. How often do I change the water in my bowl?

The bowl is average sized. I don't know how big it is. Still better than what the pet store guy was keeping him in. Those jam jars. And the water was all yellow and disgusting. Couldn't even tell what color the bettas were. Okay sorry. Too much detail.

But heres the thing. The guy at the store told me to change the water every 10-15 days. Which according to the stuff I read on the internet is pretty long. The research I've done tells me to change it either every day in percentages. Or every few days 100%. But I'm not able to find an exact answer. So if anyone could tell me the exact no. I'd be grateful.

Oh and what is the advised no. of pellets per day? The store told 1 per day. But I think that cant be right because the pellets are really small.

  • How long should parakeet eggs take to hatch?

I found the 1st egg around 5th, 6th or 7th March. Then after a day or so another. There are 2 eggs in total. The parakeets mate died 1-3 months ago. So I'm not sure if theyre fertile. But the thing is she has been showing the the signs of them being fertile. And theyre plain white as well which ive read is a sign of them being fertile. Not just that, she has been continuously sitting on the eggs since only coming out of the nest box to feed.

What im worried about is that usually they say it takes 18 days for them to hatch and its been more than that. So should i give them another week or should i remove them from the nestbox if theyre rotten.

Another parakeet also laid eggs a few days after. Same story but she does have a mate. What about her? She has 3 eggs.

  • Taming a Yellow Indian Ringneck !?

She's just a few months old, I have clipped her wings. Is terrified of my fingers being near her claws or belly. But lets me pet her and eats from my hand. If I want to bring her out I have to grab her with a cloth. Though she sits on my shoulders and all.

I just want to be able to move her around without grabbing her. Like stepping onto my fingers.
