Ohhhh, that liberal media...........?
I've always felt that the media's "bias" has been relative to the political leanings of the CoC and his administration.
Blagojevich is the soup du jour. Is Obama getting a free ride on this one? Liberal media giving him a pass?
7 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoRelentless windows popping up! Help!?
At the moment when I click off certain sites I get a wave of windows popping up for the page I had just closed. I try closing them as they pop up but quickly I'll have 20 pages at eh bottom of the screen.
Then I'll Control-Alt-Delete, get the task manager and get rid of them that way (if I can). Sometimes I've been so swamped I have to shut the computer down.
It's only <imdb.com> and <hi5.com>. It happens maybe 80% of the time with those 2 sites. Can anyone explain this and/or help me fix it. Cheers.
3 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agoStocking up for Boracay!?
I'm going to Boracay tomorrow for 5 days.
Since the first rule of tropical islands is to mark up prices, I was wondering if there is anything in particular I should stock up on.
Cigs, booze, fruit, water, snacks, soda, noodles, etc.
What would be worth buying in Caticlan?
Thanks
7 AnswersPhilippines1 decade agoPhilippines accommadation prices. WTF?????
I've been in the Phils for 3 weeks now and I'm shocked with value of hotels and guesthouses.
I've enjoyed my time here. The natural scenery is world class. The food is good and the people are among the best I've ever met.
But I've travelled extensively in Thailand, Indo, Cambo, Malaysia, Laos, and Vietnam and none of those countries left me with a bad taste in my mouth (consistently) after shelling over big money for poor accommodation.
Look- I don't mind staying in crap hole's, I just don't like paying $15 US for the privilage. I also don't mind paying $15 US (600 P) but I would like the room to come with a functioning shower, a mozzie screen in the bathroom, etc.
Extra annoying is that most hotels are empty!!
So...after that little rant.... can anyone explain why the accommodation market in the Phils seems so out of whack compared to it's ASEAN neighbours?
And do you think it might be contributing to the lack of tourism? (that I keep reading the government wants encourage)

No, I'm not a fan of Sadaam, but can you tell me the connection between Iraq and terror (especially if its a connection specific TO Iraq that I can't put on Saudi Arabia, or Pakistan, or Egypt, or.....)
And please, no oil answers. Heard them already.
3 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoGET A JOB! Tell me about it......?
Before we start, yes, I have a job.
My question:
Since the unemployment rate has been monitored as a statistic, there has ALWAYS been unemployment.
That means that there's not enough jobs for people out of work.
So how can you tell someone to get a job if the economy isn't providing enough jobs to be had?

5 AnswersHockey1 decade agoNational Health Care!!!!!!!!?
I want to hear from supporters of the Iraq Invasion explain (since the current administration can't) why national health care for Iraqis (payed for by American tax-dollars) is justifiable but national coverage for American citizens is unacceptable socialism.

7 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoRebates and bailouts. Concerns?
Is anyone concerned about rebates offered by the stimulus package being primarily spent on consumer goods made outside of the US?
Or paying down personal debts which are (partially) being acquired by the financial sectors of Singapore, Kuwait, China, etc. which are bailing out Citibank, Morgan Stanley, etc?
Will rebate money flowing out of the country defeat the original intent?
3 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoCutting taxes and social programs?
At what point does cutting taxes and spending on social programs hit the wall and meet the government's obligation to provide national defense, infrastructure, education, etc.?
Wouldn't that big of a reduction take lead to a society similar to Industrial Revolution-era Britain (extremely free markets and low taxes) where no middle-class existed?
If yes, who out there wants it?
5 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHow's the US economy?
Reading the heated political QnA here, the economy comes up quite often.
Critics of Bush & Co. are increasingly speaking of recession, which Bush supporters claim is not going to happen and the economy is doing just fine thank-you-very-much.
Now Bush is planning an economic stimulus.
Do you Republicans disagree with him trying to fix an economy that is doing fine? Then why is he doing this?
(Save the Clinton recession comments for this one, let's deal with the here and now, shall we?)
22 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoPhilippines visa?
Does a 60-day extension start from the date of entry or the date of application?
Do airport officials still give 60-day visas on entry (at their discretion)?
4 AnswersPhilippines1 decade agoIf drugs are such a crime?
Why can't you be arrested for consuming drugs after the fact?
If you raped, robbed, killed, committed assault, SOLD drugs, etc., in the past, you can be arrested and charged.
If you did coke last night, ecstasy last month, smoked a joint last year, the law doesn't see you as committing a crime.
Any explanations? Thanks.

6 AnswersOther - Asia Pacific1 decade agoCan someone explain the Iraq-War on Terror connection?
Given that the War on Terror was a response to 9/11- and Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, nor posed a threat to the US - why invade Iraq?
Why not Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, etc.?
If it was to flush out terrorists in the region, couldn't the US have fought them in Afghanistan since they(US military) were already there with global support?
