  • ratio dish soap to tempera paint?

I would like the child's tempera liquid paint to be more washable and less likely to stain clothes and I understand that if you can do this by adding a little dish soap to the paint. However, "a little" is a bit vague. What is the ratio of dish soap to the tempera paint?

  • As the executor of the estate, do I have to turn on the gas?

The apartment for sale has been empty for a year and is now in escrow that is suppose to close by the first of the month. The inspection has been made, but some things could not be inspected because the gas is turned off. They are now telling me I have to have the gas turned on.

My reasoning is that the apt is being sold as is and the homeowners warranty would cover if something didn't work.

Do I still have to have the gas turned on?

  • How to get mom to come and stay with us?

I love my mil who is turning 90 next month. 6 weeks ago she hurt her back. Looks like a crushed vertebrae. She is quite weak now and afraid to be alone, but she refuses to move in with us or her other son? We can't be there 24/7. Nursing home is out and we can't afford to hire someone. How do we convince her to come and stay with us until she gets better?

  • What would you do if Octo mom was YOUR daughter?

Think about it. What if it was your daughter and these were your grandchildren? What would you do? I've heard all the rants people have said (me too) but there are legal issues as to what you can and can't do. So if it was you, what would you do about the situation?

  • What do you think of Stephen King's quote on Meyer's Twilight writing?

"Both Rowling and Meyer, they’re speaking directly to young people. … The real difference is that [Harry Potter author] Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and [Twilight author] Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good."

  • The Homecoming by Ray Bradbury?

Has anyone read this book? It's only 56 pages and is illustrated. Is this a children's story? Is it worth the time to read it? Is it at all eerie?

  • Edward Cullen - The monster or not?

So many girls and sadly grown women think Edward Cullen is the hottest thing. Some are so in love with him. I just don't get it. I see Edward as an obsessive possessive insecure jealous child and at his age, he really should have matured up a bit.

So all you fans out there, please explain to me what the big deal about Edward is. I mean besides the fact that you think he's hot. Why is hot? Don't waste my time about his appearance and his hair. What is the big attraction about Edward? Why the falling in-love with this stalker? Oh yeah, and that bit about how he protects her doesn't cut it either. There are several people in the cast that would protect her.

  • Does the Co-op pay for carpet replacement and painting?

My mother purchased her co op apartment 15 years ago in California. The carpet hasn't been replaced since then, nor have the walls been painted.

Since she owns the stock, but not the actual bldg or land, is it the responsibility of the co-op to pay for new carpet and paint?

  • Who do I ask to speak with at the credit card company ..?

Who would I ask or what department would I ask for when calling the credit card companies regarding my mother's account? She is currently in the hospital and I want to negotiate a lower rate with them.

  • high interest rate/ elderly abuse/ should I pay?

My mother is on a limited income of $800 a month. She has over $13,000 in credit card debt. At least 7 credit cards. The lowest is 19% and the highest is 25%.

I doubt they will lower the rate unless I sign on to take the debt which I would never do. My mother is currently in the hospital and when she gets out - she will stay with me til she dies. She won't need these cards. I refuse to pay anyone 25%

If the credit co won't lower the rate, should I still make payments or tell them to pound sand and they can sue the estate when she she dies? That could be years from now. Should I just tell them to close the accounts and wipe it clean because she is unable to pay them? They can't touch her income as it is social security.

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for paying what is due, but 25% is robbery. They should never have given her the credit line.

  • Do you care when people run their generators at campgrounds?

Last time I went camping, the people ran their generator all day long. I did tune it out, but there were times when I really wanted to listen to the nature and quiet. That didn't happen.

Hubby wants to buy a generator and I am refusing. I don't think we need it. The fridge and lights on the travel trailer should work off the battery, shouldn't it? Should I relent and let hubby get the generator?

  • Why do women cry over sentimental times?

I am expecting my first grandchild (any minute now) to be born. I cry at the thought of meeting her the first time. I cry when I look at my oldest daughter. I almost cried when I called the hospital to see how she was doing.

What is with all these tears? Did you cry at the birth of your first grandchild?

  • Are you bored with your grandchildren or great-grandchildren?

I just attended a shower for my first grandchild. The great grandmother of this child left saying with a deep sigh, after so many you really don't care anymore.

I'm curious as to how many of you grandparents really aren't interested or care about their grandchildren? How many of you find them annoying and more of a pain than a joy? Why?

  • What motivates a rat terrier dog?

I have an 18 month old stray rat terrier mix male (15 lb). I just got him neutered and we are working on our obedience training. He can only eat so much food and is specific in the treats he likes. He does like to jump everywhere and can't seem to sit still for more than a minute. What really motivates these dogs and what can I do to provide what he needs?
