  • Question for the serious breeders out there...?

I know there are a few good breeders on here, and that's who this question is aimed at. CharlotteK's question about choosing a puppy based on colors got me thinking about this one :)

Do you choose puppies for your prospective owners, or do you allow them to choose which puppy the want out of those you aren't keeping?

I personally choose puppies for the owners. I give my puppies Volhard's PAT at 49 days and my puppy application and my interview questions are designed to work in conjunction with the PAT, to select the best puppy for the right home. Since the majority of my puppies go to competition homes, this has worked out well for me, and for those who have my puppies. Most of my puppy owners are quite happy for me to select a puppy for them, but occasionally I come across one who seems put out by not getting to select their own. What strategies do you use in placing your puppies in the most appropriate homes, and how do you relate that to potential owners?

    Thanks!
