Hey I need help on Loading?

Well My horse is a Belgian and is really fun to ride but we never really load her. This summer I am going to try to show with my Local 4-H group at the local saddle club. We have practices every week, and do events like barrels, trial, poles, jump, egg and spoon, and many others but to get there I kinda need to load her so any ideas and little tips of how to encourage her to get in the trailer and stay in there comfortably and when in not back out immediately will be appreciated. They are 8 years old ish and I am 15. These are my first horses and we ride and work them. Any comments just about my horses are always nice. Any tips on those events too will be appreciated.

  • Next year i want to start showing my horse in 4-H anything i can start working on now?

I have two Belgains and i want to show one next year if we get a trailer. She is kinda spooky of somethings like disc bines going by right next to us and noisy flat bed trailers on the road when we ride but not too bad. What horse wouldn't be scared of that stuff. its not an extremely fancy showing type its pretty much just a bunch of kids coming out to have some competitive horseback fun. Most of the kids all ride western and some neck rain and some don't.(My horse isn't trained to neck rein she's a work horse) i was just wondering if you guys have any pre show or pre practice tips for me i am a rookie at taking my horse somewhere and showing her off. ( She's pretty good at showing off by herself) we won't have to do anything with the mane and the tail is cut hock short for harnessing. Thank you in advance. :-)

  • What kind of fun ground work do you do with your horses just for fun?

I am wondering because this summer i want to do some fun stuff with my cows. They are very friendly and don't lunge. I was just curious how u get the horses to follow so well without a lead and right behind you my cows kinda do that but not for long enough at times. Also if you guys have any other fun stuff you do that would be cow possible please share i would really enjoy it and have fun enriching their minds. Cows are really smart you know.

  • What can i train my cows to do?

I know this is for horses but my cows are so much like horses. I already have them halter and good under saddle and i can walk behind them and hook two together. I was curious about some ground tricks and fun play i could do with them and how do you do it. I know this may seem crazy but it kinda is if you have any questions please ask and if you are wonder ages or breeds well 3 of them are 4 and the 4th is only 1 year old. I enjoy spending time with them and have tried lunging them but they really could care less. I can pick up their hooves and touch them anywhere. They could care less about plastic bags. One is a Holstein the other is a Holstein saler the other is a beefalo and the heifer is a cross between Holstein and limousine. Thank you!

  • Where do i find a 40 inch girth for a Belgian ?

WE have Belgians and we bought one girth on a auction and looking for a second average girths don't even go half way we need a huge girth and not really expensive any other people with this experience how do i get one to fit. The horses only eat grass and hay and grain a little bit to keep them wanting to come to the barn. They weigh over 2000 pounds.

  • I need ideas for christmas list?

I am 14 and live with 2 belgians, five cows all trained and very human friendly, twenty ish chickens, a turkey, ten guineas, and a dog, what are some ideas for christmas that i will be able to use. I ride western just and trail rides and for fun i do not show. I have a helmet, a beautiful saddle and bridles are hard to come by but i have one. I can't get my horse to pick up her hooves, or be tied on.

My cows are just special i have three already well trained and working on a fourth one. I have horse halters on them and enough lead ropes. I can just about do anything with my cows.

I have the chickens and thinking about asking for a chicken saddle. Yes they make those. Any other ideas and i don't want cowboy boots. I like my hiking boots. I shoot archery and also play softball and basketball.

    Any ideas would be nice.

  • Why do my horses never leave their stall unless its cool or night?

I have two Belgians and during the summer and most of winter they barely ever are out of their stalls. They have open doors all the time and the only time they can't get in is when we park the tractor in there. Is it just because that feels home or is it because they want to get worked, Or less horse flies but i see tons in there. If anyone has an idea it would be appreciated. And for fly spray all we use is vinegar water. 50/50 and it seams to work they flies are still around but they don't bite. And we clean it out with tractor frequently.

  • My horse randomly swerves, Why and how can i prevent this?

I ride nothing special western. I just ride to have fun. I have two Belgiums. They are amazing and i love riding them. But recently she hasn't done this but a few times when we run she swerves to the other side of the road or trail or whatever we are on. Her saddle blanket doesn't bite her and sometimes i switch saddle blankets. But her half sister just walks fine. She never does a thing. Other than walk in ditches.:) But my horse will step right back in place but that is really dangerous and i don't want to let absolutely anyone ride her. If anyone has ideas or maybe reasons why i would appreciate it. Thank you.
