lingua d'amore

An excerpt of the story I'm currently writing: My eyes were closed. It’s as if nothing had happened, while I was sleeping in the water. Somehow, there was something in the waters that relaxed me. I felt the coolness of it, and yet, I felt no pain, no urgency to escape, no need to rush out. I felt something change in me, but I didn’t know what. Suddenly, I was breathing in the water. I opened my eyes in shock. The canoe had capsized, I remember, and I had plunged into the waters. Around me were water weeds and fishes were swimming here and there. I looked up to see the canoe there and I glanced in all directions, trying to find Biame. After a moment, I saw an object swimming towards me. A little longer of focusing my vision, I saw that it was actually Biame. When he reached me, he had one look at what seemed to be my legs and looked back at me with shock. I gave him a puzzled look and looked down. I gasped back in horror as well. What used to be my legs had turned into a fish tail!
